Intermittent Internet & SMTP send issues

I have been having issues sending emails, while connected to the Cox internet. Internet connections appear to drop and reestablish quickly. Tech support suggested that I need a new modem. Cox Techs h...

Modem's cannot drop and re-establish connection quickly. If it's happening momentarily, I would be more inclined to troubleshoot the router. Are you connected wirelessly, or via ethernet? BTW, I get a number of strange errors as well, but my computer connected via ethernet, both the mac and the PC don't have smtp issues. (Though the MAC uses Outlook, due to a bug on the macmail software I don't feel like fighting with.
