Hotspot disable

Hi , Ive disabled my hotspot in my settings and it's been that way for months , but it's still showing our Coxwifi hotspot and Ive tested it and my sister had no problems logging in with her cox account. After she logged in I went to settings and it still shows it's disabled but clearly it's not disabled. I've even shut down our Internet multiple times to make sure that the coxwifi signal is ours and it is attached to our panoramic modem. Please help , I understand it's secure but I hate it and its confusing to guests and it makes me paranoid.

    It stinks but I suggest buying your own modem and router that way you have full control over it. Does the hotspot go away when you unplug the gateway?
