going away

I am going away for 5 wks and WILL be checking my cox email on the web daily and on my mobile devices as well

I want to know how to prevent getting "a million" emails upon my return, when I reboot my iMac desktop and all the email since my departure loads into the mail program I use here at home.

There must be something I can do . Thank you.

  • If you use IMAP settings, deleting an email viewed on a mobile device should delete the email from the Webmail server, and prevent the email from downloading to your iMac once you return home. -Becky, Cox Support Forums Moderator

The forum moderators told me that I could set my account to "leave emails on the server" when I delete them on the phone.  If you don't select "leave on server", the webmail will be gone once you delete them on the phone.  The only problem is that I couldn't find the Setting which said "leave a copy on the server". I could not find it on my iMac or on the Cox site.  I think the default setting is to remove them from your iMac webmail.  Test it today and see if that is true.

  • when i travel i manage our email on my ipad & i have that set up as imap.  when i delete on there, it deletes from the inbox & only what is left downloads to my email client (which is still set up as pop) when i get home.
