Bottom line: I need my email TODAY. So I put all the settings back to the old way, and now I can send email again.
If the problem cannot be resolved in the next 48 hours, I strongly encourage Cox to extend the January 24 deadline (and send out notification of this extension) until this problem has been dealt with.
Agree with all the comments that say we are paying for this service and should be refunded for the time our email communications are interrupted.
Thanks to all.

I am having the exact same problem. Spoke with two Cox agents this morning, but issue not resolved. The second agent told me to contact Microsoft because it's an Outlook problem. Given the comments below, I am not thinking that's true.
Nice screenshot from Chris K a couple of pages ago, but doesn't match anything on my Outlook program. And the closest thing I can find (Require Secure Password Authentication (SPA) under the Internet Email Settings / Outgoing Server tab) is not highlighted so I cannot change it.
Like Derral, I do not want to use the Cox website for my email. It is hard to use with voice activation, which is how I drive my computer. Outlook 2013 works great, or it did until today.
Additional advice, anyone? Thanks.

I've tried changing Mail, Outlook, and Airmail smtp port numerous times to 465 only to have no emails being sent. I've tried updating each program with 993 and 465 for IMAP but I've gotten the same result: I can receive emails but can not send. The only reason my smtp port is set to 25 (Unsecured) is to be able to send emails. It's interesting that I'm having the same issue with all three programs but not with Webmail. NO, I don't want to use Webmail instead of Outlook.
This is an issue that COX has known about for years. Just because Cox tells us to change our settings by January 25th 2018 is not going to magically make Mail, Outlook, and Airmail start sending emails.
Better Cox support to fix this issue is needed. I've changed my settings to 993 and 465. Now that I've updated the ports is Cox going to ensure I can receive and send emails?
Cox customer for over 25 years. But maybe for not much longer.
