Cox Email and Outlook -- What's going on?

I spent two hours online with Microsoft yesterday trying to figure out what's going on with Outlook Email.  And it turns out all the issues are related to my Cox email account and the related server.   I've updated, changed passwords and done all the usual stuff.  My accounts still won't sync routinely.   Is there an issue with Cox emails servers?  I'm starting to think they want us all to migrate to a different email server, like GMAIL.  This is very, very frustrating, and I don't feel like anything is getting done or communicated to cox.net email users.  I really don't want to have to change email servers -- but I can't take this unreliable email situation much longer.
