Attempted Fiber Installation: Canceled
Greetings to all,
I am sharing my experience with Cox Services today. I have received a number of emails and letters informing me that I am eligible for conversion to fiber. Indeed, my address qualifies.
There is no intent to change my service. I have 500 MPs and that is fine for my needs.
I have in hand a letter that clearly states in bold, no additional cost.
However, after 45 minutes on the phone, I was informed that it is mandatory to have the Panoramic Wi-Fi and pay a $15 per month rental. The service would remain the same with the same base cost.
I stated that I have my own router and would not need to rent anything. I was told no, you need to rent the Panoramic Wi-Fi although they were willing to give it to me for free for a limited time
My response was as follows: my understanding is that the Optical Network Terminal (ONT) would be installed and that there would be an RJ45 jack which would provide internet and that I could then attach my router to the ONT. I was told "no", you need to rent the Panoramic Wi-Fi.
I canceled the installation.
Thank you in advance for your thoughts.
