I agree, this is the most confusing payment scheme I’ve come across from a phone company. The salesman did not AT ALL explain it accurately. I bought an IPhone 16 in December at the Cox store, switching over a cel phone line from ATT. The way the salesman explained it was that we only had to pay $99 for the phone, in 24 monthly payments. I asked if I could just pay it off and he said I could, once I got set up with Citizen Pay. After going through the whole Citizen Pay process - account, app etc I noticed it was showing that I “owed” $1,156.65. When I asked he said oh don’t worry, after 90 days COX will pay off the rest. I have no idea what that means, nor did the Citizens Pay rep I spoke to over the phone.
AND it turns out the minimum monthly payment is $50! So the salesman flat out lied.
So during the 90 day period COX stated, I will have to make three payments of $50 if I don’t want to default on the terms of this loan I never asked for. That means I’ll pay $150, when COX told me I would get the phone for $99. And who knows if after 90 days the “loan” will actually close out? Will COX pay the balance?
