HDHomerun missing channels
I have the HDHomeRun Prime, I've went through 2 cable cards and tried to get them activated several times with little luck. I am only receiving the starter channels(1-27, local HD channels, faith package), I live in the Omaha area. I am about ready to call it quits with trying to get Cox to fix this, but a technician is coming tomorrow for one last shot. The cable card phone technical support is pretty bad...basically they have 3 steps they will go through, then tell you your only other option is to have a technician visit the house. It's been pretty disappointing to say the least. Not expecting to get any more help based on my experience with Cox so far, but figured I'd give the forum a shot before I try another provider.
Cablecard is validated...everything says success...tuning resolver says ready. I've tried connecting them both at the point of entry to house to eliminate possible loss inside the house. My best guess is that Cox has something screwed up on their end, because I get every channel in the starter package, but none in the economy package...assuming they are all encrypted the same. I've been unable to speak to anyone at Cox that is anything other than an entry level phone support person. It would be nice if Cox had even a couple really good technicians/problem solvers that worked withe cable card support, that could handle the issues the script readers can't solve. I will wait until a technician visits the house before I complain any further, but it certainly seems like Cox doesn't want customers to use cablecards.
This is fixed. For everything I don't like about the phone support, the actual technicians that comes out to the house make up for it. The guys who came where very knowledgeable and willing to troubleshoot the problem. My advice to anyone with the same issue, is don't waste much time trying to fix it yourself with the phone support, just have the techs come to your house.
What finally fixed my issue is either the new tuning adapter they swapped mine out for (most likely fix). Or the assigning the cable card to the HDHomeRun with the USB unplugged. We also upgraded my package from economy, although I don't think that was the fix. I will set it back to economy tomorrow and report back if that breaks it. Either way, the guys who came out were very helpful, so I am going to pretend like this disappointment with phone support never happened.
My advice to COX: it is widely reported that there are a lot of bad cablecard equipment floating around out there...if a piece of equipment like my tuning adapter makes it's way back to inventory, burn it. Possibly do an exorcism on it first to be safe.
