With so many to choose from, it helps to start with a price point. Even if its not a exact amount;budget, bang for buck, high end, money is no issue, etc.
Also, do any of the devices use Wifi AC?
Last, is it possible to run ethernet from upstairs to downstair? A smaller wireless router with a wireless AP running off it is a good way to get range without the need for larger routers or repeaters.
Starting to get a little long in the tooth, but I noticed the RT-N66U is on sale on Newegg for 80$ with promo EMCEJFT27.

The most powerful radio I've found in a router is on the Netgear Nighthawk. The R7000 retails for about $180, don't know if that's outside your budget but a great device. I recommend both the Netgear Nighthawk and ASUS. I installed an R7000 as a replacement for a friend's wrt54g in the basement of his split level house. He was amazed at the signal strength improvement on the upper level and back porch.
