Our cable has been freezing up, lots of pixelation, and just stopping and freezing. Its interrupting important shows, at crucial times. It happens on every single channel.
We dont pay this much money to have hiccupy cable.
Is anyone else experiencing this?

There could be many potential causes for this type of issue. You could try disconnecting power for two minutes to the box and plug it back in to see if that helps. Are you experiencing problems on all TVs in your home?

There could be many factors that could be creating the freezing, If you unplug it and plug it back in, does it resolve itself?
If not you may need to talk to someone in support to get to the diagnostics to see if it is a signal issue, or if It has to do with DVR

We have this SAME issue. We're also told they same BS about unplugging and plugging back in, blah blah blah. It does NOT resolve the problem. It does it on ALL the channels when it does it. This should NOT be happening when we pay our expensive **** bill on time every month. Just another example of the crappy service cox offers and another reason I have been researching other companies to go to. They lied about services when we signed up just to take the money. The moment we began having ANY issues with them was when we had the problems.
I would like to know, if I'm paying all this money for my bill for this service for ALL the time and NOT part of the time, then why am I only getting part-time service? If you can't offer me service ALL the time I think my account needs to be credited back. So all the time I miss out on tv, internet, etc due to such issues, I think I should get some money back since I'm not receiving the service. Even after talking to technical support the problems never get resolved and it always takes several days before they'll send a tech out and then you have to fight so you don't get charged for them to come out! I shouldn't have to pay for YOU to repair a service I'm paying for that isn't something of my own doing.
As I keep saying, cox is HORRIBLE and only cares about getting your money, not their customers.

Yeah, they tell us to reset the cable box, there goes 15 minutes of a live football game. I have the Explorer 4240HDC cable box. Do other models of the cable box have the same problem?

Yes, as you keep saying. Seven almost identical gripe posts in 15 minutes. Disconnect already!

Doing research on the internet shows that the problem is not limited to Cox. The most common explanation is that the real problem has something to do with the signal.
Our problem is that the HD TV in one room has only occasional problems while the standard TV upstairs is almost always experiencing problems. Both these TVs are on boxes. We have one other TV that has no box and we never have noticed an issue. This is a brand new home (only 4 years old) so if there is a problem with wiring, it would have to be a result of improper installation.
More likely, based on the various internet posts and the lack of good feedback from the cable companies, is that the signal issues result from the miles and miles of cable strung out around a city. It seems that most problems affect only digital TVs. Cox and the other cable companies need to communicate a bit better than simply asking folks to reset their boxes as it's become apparent that this procedure is not solving the problem for many folks.
To make my wife happy, we will be taking the one box in and getting it replaced in her hopes that this will fix the problem.

I have constantly complained to Cox about this issue. I am forever getting frozen cable boxes, the times in the guide don't match the actual time of day (the guide says its 2 am when it's really 5 pm). I'm always having to reset both my "master" cable box and the secondary cable box at least once or twice per month. I'm getting really tired of it, and am considering going back to having 2 regular boxes for each of my rooms with TVs.

I've had little problems with the HD box and way too many problems with the standard boxes. I just keep one standard connected now out of two. My opinion is that they (COX) have let the standard signal fall in terms of upgrading or boosting so we the customers will go for the HD. Not that the HD box itself costs more but why buy a HD TV when the standard one still works.
I was thinking of having a tech come out and re-do the installs but another forum subject says the techs don't really fix anything.

Glad I have a smart phone the dvr
service is awful! Tapes the show no sound,
or tapes and you try to play get an error, "the show
you are trying to reach its unavailable at this time"
Beware.......
Works like 50% off the time
you first get home from work. Ready to watch some
of your shows, they don't work. That has become the
norm using COX!

It sounds like you're experiencing quite a few problems with that box. Perhaps if we exchange it most of those problems will go away.
