Upload Speeds Dropping
Good afternoon, I have constant upload drops throughout the day. This hasn't been an issue for about a year until last week when it just started to suddenly drop. I upgraded my internet to the Gigablast plan because I upload a lot for school and work, and this has been such a pain as I'd disconnect whenever I'm backing up a server for work or if I'm trying to upload an essay for school, or if I'm just trying to relax and watch a streaming service like Hulu. Everything uses upload speed which is why I upgraded, but lately it drops to around 0.4-2mbps when I should have around 35. I had a tech out a couple of days ago and they took out a splitter that had the rubber inside that had melted, and changed out the buffer on the back of my modem. He checked the signals in the modem and noticed they are all at a good balance. He told me that if those do not fix it, then it could be a problem with the node at the pole due to congestion. He couldn't work on it or check the pole because they "are not allowed to work past 8 pm." I've called COX again and told them what the technician said, but they said if they don't see an issue on their end, they are not going to send a tech out. I'm not sure what to do at this point because it's affecting my work and schooling, and I'm feeling like COX is either going around the issue or knows the issue exists but won't communicate to their customers. Is anyone else having this problem? I live in Southern Kansas and no inclement weather lately or outages.858Views0likes1CommentIntermittent slow upload speeds
For starters, I'm on Gigablast & have been enjoying the really fast downloads, especially while being told to work from home for the last 1.5 years. During this time, at least once a day (usually around 10a-11a) my internet upload speeds drop down from the normal ~35 Mbps to roughly .5-5 Mbps (per Speedtest.net). This is not great when working remotely on a PC located in my office. The mouse movement gets so laggy it's almost unusable. This normally lasts 30-60min, and only rarely longer than that, which is part of the problem. Every time I call support, they tell me to reboot the router. So, after holding on the phone & then waiting for the router to reboot, this normally has allowed the requisite time to elapse so that the problem goes away. Unfortunately, to the tech, this means that the reboot "solved" the problem, which it did not. So, my question, any ideas on how I can get resolution to this issue? I'm mostly back in the office these days, but every time I work from home again (like today) I'm stuck dealing with this issue.417Views1like1CommentUpload speeds dip around 3 PM.
Hello - I am beyond annoyed with Cox's service right now. For the past few days, my upload speeds have been dipping around 3 PM. This is a huge problem. With COVID I do everything online, school, talking with friends and family, etc. All of those things require upload speed, and mine is practically nonexistent. Usually my upload speed is around 11Mbps. Last night, and tonight, when I tested it has been in between 0.07 and 0.11. This is obviously frustrating. I tried to call the support number earlier, went through everything with it saying internet speed is hard to help with, just to be hung up on after saying hello. It doesn't really matter if internet speed is hard to help with, the minimum for my upload speed should be much higher than this. I'm very upset. I've had plenty of problems in the past and if this isn't resolved I will probably look into switching providers.2.9KViews0likes15CommentsDownload speed fine. Poor/intermittent upload speed.
Hi, Recently I've been experiencing issues with my upload speed. The download speed is fine. Sometimes when I run the cox recommended speed test, I'll have around 8Mbps upload, and 30 seconds later I'll get 2-3Mbps upload. I'm currently on Preferred 150/10. Definitely seeing more 2-3Mbps upload test results than anything close to 10, sometimes I've even gotten 0 back. Done the whole basic troubleshooting with multiple support representatives and boy does that get old. Yes I know how to reset. Yes I know to bypass the router. No I haven't changed any set up on my end, but somehow I'm experiencing terrible upload speeds and intermittent drops. I have an sb6183 arris modem, wrt1900ac router, upstream and downstream status look okay to me, so I'm assuming something has to be the issue from the connection to my house to the cox node, or somewhere along the way. Half the cable is new to the modem. Was told I can't have a technician come out and take a look because I'm not renting a cox modem - really?! Really baffled on this one, and could use some help. Most recent speed test and modem status linked. speed test modem status Thanks!Solved20KViews0likes50Comments
