Changing Network Name/Password
I had a Cox Commctns guy come out here today & set us up- very helpful btw. But now I don't know how to personalize the Network name & password. I know you guys recommend not to do that, but it will make things easier for us. I've been looking around on this site for some answers, but nothing has worked so far. I was only given this little set-up guide. No official manual or anything. I have a Ubee. It is a DOCSIS 3.0 WeMTA. The S/N is: D484M13003917 What other info would you need to help me? There are a bunch of other #'s on this box, but not sure what's what. Thanks in advance! I'll probably call Cox in the morning, but just thought I'd ask here while I'm thinking about it.39KViews0likes1CommentPort Scan knocking me offline.
Ok, your tech support was no help on this since they admitted to me they didn't know anything but pretty much every day at random points I will get a port scan logged in my modem/router (UBEE, cox provided) and for just a split second it interrupts my service and will disconnect my gaming systems from whatever they're connected to. I'm sure it affects my other devices but as they're usually used for just web browsing or streaming video it is hard to tell unless those devices are running something that requires a constant connection much like the gaming systems do. And I know the port scans are coming from cox because I've tracked the IP labeled as the source back to your NOC. I suppose I could test out blocking that IP address from my network but I have a feeling that wouldn't work out so well if it is possible. I'd love some help and if you need more info please feel free to ask me!13KViews0likes28CommentsOMAHA: DNS issues - DNS in router?
First, you "upgraded" my account by sending a new Internet modem, a model UbeeDUBW656 -- yet, on this page, < http://www.cox.com/residential/support/internet/article.cox?articleId=b2ec95d0-7ef9-11df-5590-000000000000>, you do NOT have this modem listed as preferred. That may well be the problem. Ever since I installed this modem, there has been intermittent yet consistent "DNS" problems on all of my devices that are connected to this modem/router. Both wired and wireless suffer from these DNS issues. I have tried to bypass the modem's DNS features to no avail. I am a very savvy internet-capable IT guy. I know how to troubleshoot. The DNS port/ip filtering is somehow wacked out on this modem/router. And, I cannot even change the DNS settings IN the router. This bites. The symptoms are the DNS addresses will not resolve. Running nslookup and choosing different servers, always time out, when this problem exists. For the last 24 hours, I have had this problem, and resetting the modem is not working. I have cleared, flushed, registered, re-configured multiple computer devices just to be sure it was not a local problem. The problem resides in either the modem/router, or at COX in Omaha. I am VERY unsatisfied with the quality of COX Internet, and feel that I am overpaying for such service. -- Unhappy in Omaha.11KViews0likes19CommentsExtremely Unreliable Upload Speeds
I have a service call scheduled for today, but I'm not sure what to tell the technician. I called Saturday afternoon after the other technician left and explained that the upload speed was fine until he closed up the cable boxes outside of the home. The problem I am having relates only to upload speed and not download speed. When I called tech support I spoke to a level 2 technician who said they could not see my new Ubee docsis 3.0 modem uploading with 4 channels they could only see 1 channel uploading. I confirmed this by accessing the modem settings via 192.168.100.1 and entering in my login information. It showed only 1 channel bonded and the others "unknown". They said that it could be a grounding issue preventing signal. I am confused and I hope that this gets fixed, today. I am scheduled for a 3pm-5pm service call.2.9KViews0likes3CommentsModem issues with Apple Airport Exteme

So whenever I turn on my Xbox and play online, eventually my wifi will turn off. The router will still be on, but the wifi light shuts off and we lose wifi throughout the whole house. The wifi will only turn off when the xbox is connected online. Any explanation why this happens?1.2KViews0likes1Comment
