Cox throttling Twitch
So I have been having lot's of issues streaming on twitch. I was ultimate internet user for about 3 years. I have been having issues streaming on twitch. I have had numerous techs come out and my signal levels are fine. I upgraded to gigablast thinking something might change and I'm still have the issues even after upgrading services and having more then 4 techs come to my house. It clearly looks like cox is throttling upload to twitch. I'm able to stream for about 3 to 7 min without issues then my bitrate up just drops. I reboot my modem and the issue goes away for a few mins. Download speeds are good no other connectivity issues. Modem has been swapped 3 times and I'm hard wired and have tried several different devices. It also looks like there's been several post regarding cox throttling and twitch on reddit and other sites. So what's the deal ? Why is it a issue for people with Cox internet to use twitch for gaming upload. I have to lower my bit rate to 2300 my friend has a different ISP and he has slower speeds then me and is able to do 5000 upload. Someone at Cox needs to look into this and fix this. It's not a issue on my end it's clearly something cox has going on. I even had a tech say it's possible we are throttling twitch I can't say if we are. He even saw the sudden upload spike drop and didn't have a answer and said that it wasn't a official cox test so he couldn't do anything about it but noticed the issue and said he wished he could fix it. This is unacceptable2.8KViews1like4CommentsInconsistent upload speeds when broadcasting to twitch
Inconsistent upload speeds when broadcasting to twitch I have had 10 techs come out, all could not solve the problem. Speed test are fine. They always are. I am trying to stream at 6mbs but it never even averages 3mbs, will go from 10mbs to 500kbs in seconds. again before any tech comes on here and asks me to run tests... they are all fine. all 5 of my tech visits for in home and out of home techs all said my speed tests AGAIN, ALL SPEED TESTS COME BACK NORMAL1.9KViews1like10CommentsCox not allowing me to stream on Twitch.
So I’ve talked to Twitch and Streamlabs obs and they’re both saying my ISP is throttling my rates when I try to stream. I’m getting my speeds, yet when I connect to twitch I don’t get more than 3000 kbps when I’m paying for 30 Mbs upload. I’m tired of cox. I’m an affiliate on twitch and if I have to I will move to get better internet because I’m just so tired of not being helped. I’ve been dealing with this for over 5 months and I've had MULTIPLE techs come out. I just want someone to actually help me I do not know what else to do and I am so frustrated1.2KViews0likes1CommentBuying my own Modem (panaroma user)
I am looking to buy my own modem and router combo for the Gig speeds for Cox due to the issues I am having streaming on twitch. For some reason I am not getting the speeds when streaming, but getting the speeds doing everything else. I did a little research and found there is a certain software the panaromic modems use that interfere with the connection with Twitch. I am looking to purchase theCM600 is a DOCSIS 3.0from Netgear and was just wondering if anyone has purchased this one. Also, is it compatible with Cox here in Oklahoma. If anyone has any information, please let me know. 980 mbps down 50 mbps up is what I am getting right now and I cannot stream with Twitch. -Sean798Views0likes1CommentSlow Upload Speeds; Trying to Stream on Twitch
So recently I have been trying to stream on Twitch.tv, and even thoughwe paying for the Ultimate Internet package, which includes 30mbps upload, I am only able to stream at 3500 bitrateand this still doesn't guarantee a good quality stream without dropped frames. I would also like to mention that even though we are paying for this service, I am getting an average of about 20-24mbps upload, with it very rarely reaching 30mbps. I called about this a week ago I had two techs come out so far. One came out Monday the 17th and another came out today at around noon. The first tech said everything should be fixed by Friday, but I have performed multiple speed tests since then and I have yet to see speeds remotely close to 30mbps aside from a couple trials. (see attached image) He also put in a ticket for someone from Cox's maintenance team to come and see if there were any issues on the line outside my house, and from what I have been told, everything has been resolved yet I am still experiencing less than expected upload speeds. I also have performed multiple Twitch Bandwidth tests toverify that there is an issue with my upload speed, and sure enough I get mediocre bandwidth results along with very low quality connections to servers that are close to me. (see attached image) Not sure what to do at this point because it seems like getting a tech out here for the third time would be nothing but a nuisance to them, since all they do is come here and tell me they can't do anything about it and that they will forward the issue. Hopefully someone on here can provide me with some help. Thanks11KViews0likes17CommentsMe and my girl friend are having issues streaming on cox to Twitch,YouTube,Mixer and Facebook.
So my girl friend is an affiliate on twitch and for the past 6 months we have had issues streaming to twitch we have had several techs come out to the house and do every thing they could from replace the router/modem combo and completely rework the box on the side of our house and replacing all the coax lines. I after 12 days of the issue persisting went out and purchased all new LAN cables with the highest grade possible with gold plated shielding and all around 80 bucks all together. after the first month the issue still didn't disappear matter of fact its been happening every time we stream for more than 2 minutes. Okay so lets get to business and show you modem levels log files and server tests for streaming to show you what i'm dealing with. My current internet plan is the ultimate 300/30 Mbps with unlimited data. Internet plan https://imgur.com/a/spWS9mO modem signals https://imgur.com/a/QgoJgDL Now I do have a theory as to why she and I drop frames and it has to do with upload specific packet loss because when she or I are in a game the network symbol for packet loss appears for a bit as my stream struggles to stay connected, now here are some speed tests supporting this theory because when i'm streaming and take a speed test my upload is fine but I think there might be packet loss on my upstream which causes the dropped frames and unstable connection! https://imgur.com/a/2rSZVqB Okay now for the next test this is a quality test for your upload to the twitch servers mind you need a score above 80 to not drop frames or have issues I will post 3 screen shots showing the test and the max bit-rate I can use without issues aka upload speed, reminder though these are not consistent today the test may show good results and the next day it shows bad results I and today could be one of the good days. The reason I do a 30 second test is because it gives the most ideal and best of your connection. Thats the end of the tests if you can help me find out why I drop frames when I stream to YouTube or Twitch please comment the potential issue.6.9KViews1like4CommentsCox throttling upload speed to twitch.tv
Im an affliated twitch streamer and its really hard for me to do my hobby/job, because of cox throttling my speeds. Already replaced the coaxial cable making sure there are no bends or damage. My upload speed is supposed to be 10mbps, but its very incosistent. The same problems keeps happening for the past 5 months. I drop frames streaming and the stream is never smooth, just as i was growing. I've already had a Tech out and they resolved the problem for 1 day. Not looking to have another tech out. A lot of other streamers have had problems with cox streaming on twitch. The only conclusion i have is Cox throttling my upload speed.9.2KViews0likes0CommentsMore twitch.tv streaming problems
Hi, I've already posted about this before but I was unable to provide a trace route of my problem. What is happening is, every time I stream on twitch.tv my internet just drops. I start lagging and I lose all internet connection for about 15 minutes and won't stop until I stop streaming. It's really odd because it never happens when I'm just using the internet casually. I have a friend from Kansas City who also uses cox who has trouble streaming to it as well, even thought he has a business package. Both him and I have called countless times regarding the problem and it's always the samespiel, "unplug modem, let me reset it on my end" etc. I'm pretty sure cox is throttling traffic to twitch but everyone on the phone swears they dont throttle at all. So there might just be some issues with cox connecting to twitch server. I ran a trace route and here is what came up: C:\Windows\system32>tracert Live-lax.twitch.tv Tracing route to Live-lax.twitch.tv [199.9.254.145] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 1 ms <1 ms 1 ms 192.168.0.1 2 7 ms 8 ms 8 ms 10.81.128.1 3 9 ms 9 ms 9 ms 100.127.1.24 4 9 ms 9 ms 13 ms 24-234-6-120.ptp.lvcm.net [24.234.6.120] 5 13 ms 15 ms 15 ms langbprj01-ae2.0.rd.la.cox.net [68.1.0.136] 6 * * * Request timed out. 7 * * * Request timed out. 8 * * * Request timed out. 9 * * * Request timed out. 10 * * * Request timed out. 11 * * * Request timed out. 12 * * * Request timed out. 13 * * * Request timed out. 14 * * * Request timed out. 15 * * * Request timed out. 16 * * * Request timed out. 17 * * * Request timed out. 18 * * * Request timed out. 19 * * * Request timed out. 20 * * * Request timed out. 21 * * * Request timed out. 22 * * * Request timed out. 23 * * * Request timed out. 24 * * * Request timed out. 25 * * * Request timed out. 26 * * * Request timed out. 27 * * * Request timed out. 28 * * * Request timed out. 29 * * * Request timed out. 30 * * * Request timed out. Can someone please just tell us what is going on, googling the problem shows up countless threads about people having the same issue.2.6KViews0likes1CommentIs cox throttling uploads to twitch.tv
This is really getting out of hand, I googled that exact phrase and I see there are a ton of threads on that very subject both here and on the twitch.tv forums. There is obviously something going on with the connection between twitch.tv and cox. Every time I stream it starts out fine and all of a sudden a few minutes later I start dropping frames and then MY WHOLE INTERNET starts going down. I hardly ever lag in games but when this is happening everything slows. Other websites, games, downloads. Speed tests become random and take forever to complete, sometimes i get 1mb upload others 4mb sometimes even up to 11mb. This is all triggered from streaming on twitch or hitbox for that matter. It appears as if cox is having a hard maintaining constant upload speeds. This has been going on for quite sometime and it's very frustrating because I get a substantial income from entertaining on twitch. Can someone shed any light on this issue?!? I've called cox countless time and it's the same mind numbing spiel. A tech is coming over on Friday but i doubt he'll get anything done. ISPs need more competition, I was such a strong advocate of cox and now I'm considering moving away from them. Sad.4.6KViews0likes2Comments
