Not receiving DOCSIS 3.1
Up until last week my ARRIS SB8200 was receiving DOCSIS 3.1, indicated by the blue lights on the front of the modem. Directly wired in I was pulling 900-940 mbps down. Those lights are now lit green, representing DOCSIS 3.0, and I’m now limited to 500-550 mbps. I’ve tried numerous resets and even bought a second SB8200 to test, same issue I have had no changes to the coax line and I am not using a splitter. Looking for suggestions, hoping to avoid the $75 charge to have someone out to my home if at all possible.1.7KViews0likes12CommentsGigablast download speeds are below 300 Mbps
My Cox Gigablast download speeds with Ethernet and Wifi are below 300 Mbps. I am using Cox Panoramic modem/router. The technician checked the cable routing inside/outside the house and found no issue. He tried replacing it with another modem. But there is no improvement in download speed. Could you help to resolve this? My Cox Gigablast download speeds are always below 300 Mbps. I am using Cox delivered modem/router. The technician checked the cable inside/outside the house and replaced the modem. But there is no improvement in download speed. Why Cox markets 940 Mbps download speeds but only below 300 Mbps?? Is it a marketing trick or cheating customers?Solved2.9KViews0likes9Comments$50 Remote Service Appointment Fee
https://imgur.com/5UGOfF2 I've had three different technicians out to fix these speeds. The third tech said it was the modem I owned and charged me $50 for the visit. Today I went and got a rental modem from Cox. Still the same speeds. Customer service is now refusing to credit back the $50 even though the issue was clearly not the hardware I own. At this point I just don't want to be charged for that visit and deal with the degraded speeds. I just don't like being taken advantage of by my ISP. From what I understand, the reason I was charged is because thetech came to the "conclusion" that my modem was the issue. By using a rental modem, I have proven that is not the case. What can I do for this charge to be removed?1.2KViews0likes1CommentCOVID-19, Slow Speeds, and Why You Are Paying Full Price for Them!
COVID-19 is clearly slowing down many of Cox’s servers due to the increase of Residential use across the nation. Many more people are at home and needing to use the internet for very demanding virtual tasks to replace going to work. Gaming has also increased substantially with schools and colleges around the nation closing. This is throttling your internet speeds drastically as we speak! Why are we still paying full price for our service then? Follow this link to submit an informal complaint to the FCC for Cox’s unwillingness to reimburse their customers for paying for full price speeds, while realistically receiving fractions of the speed! https://consumercomplaints.fcc.gov/hc/en-us For example I have the Ultimate package at 300 mbps, and currently I am receiving anywhere from 5 kbps to 20 mbps!1.6KViews2likes3CommentsDownstream crawling / Upstream still fast
Hello - I have been having an issue with my connection for the past 2-3 weeks. I pay for 300mbps down / 30mbps up and have had no issues until now. I am getting between <1mpbs to around 7mbps down at best. Unacceptable. I used to regularly get 300mb down and sometimes even faster at non-peak times. I've done all the troubleshooting COX suggested and now they want me to change out my cable modem as a troubleshooting step and (of course) recommend I rent the modem from them. No thanks. I'd rather pay for my own and not give another $10-$15 per month to Cox. My question is this: how can the problem be the modem if it is still capable of providing the advertised upstream speed? I have made no changes to the topology. Here are my modem's stats (below) if it helps. I don't know how to read them, so maybe someone here with more experience can tell me where the problem lies. Just finished up after have 2 Technicians come out, 1 to install which he could not get Gigabit Speeds on his hand held tester, The 2nd technician replaced the modem and was able to achieve Gigabit speeds on his tester. But using Hardwired CAT6 Directly connected to the Modem bypassing all Household equipment, On 3 different laptops, 2 Windows 1 MacOS, all with Confirmed Gigabit 1000T Ethernet Ports and Solid State Drives, Cannot get speeds anything above 400Mbps. I was able on my Desktop Computer with a Killer E2200 Gigabit Ethernet, get 550 speeds a couple of times. Their handheld tester use the same Ookla Speedtest and Even confirmed was using the same server on speedtest. Any Ideas, is there a setting in the laptops Preventing the speeds? Is there a particular Flow Control setting? Ive forced them all to 1000T full duplex. I would say its my home network, but Ive use brand new Cat6 Patch cables to my laptop direct to the modem on Port 1, and results are the same, so im 90% sure its not my network, and its gotta be a setting with in the computers limiting the speed.1.9KViews0likes0Comments
