Does Cox not have live "heartbeat" data for their App/service?
Internet has been down for 5+ hours here, but when I call tech support, they are surprised by the fact and don't know what to do. I called in earlier, and the call rep. Said they would call me back but never did. Then the next time I called, the rep went "to check on something then hung up. The Cox App is useless for down service reporting, not even pulling from live data. Why not???1.2KViews0likes5CommentsUsage Meter reporting wrong
I've been monitoring my data usage meter over the past few weeks and the numbers aren't adding up. I have logging of incoming and outgoing WAN packets on my router and my totals are showing less than 5GB total for the past 4 days. The data meter from Cox, however, is showing that I used 10GB just on the 28th. First off, no it's not possible that the usage is that high as I'm not running torrents, infected with any viruses and my WiFi access point's security has not been compromised and I don't watch a lot of HD videos nor do I have netflix, hulu or any other services running.. There are no DMZ's in use and no services offered to the Internet. The only usage is basic email, web browsing and the occasional remote desktop to a work site using low quality video settings and I don't do file transfers with it. I do some game streaming every now and then but only for a few hours and I've done none since this new billing cycle. My last billing cycle had faulty reports as well and my meter was actually offline for 5 days with no updates. All of this traffic would have to pass through my router in any case and be logged. I've actually monitored my router as I did test procedures to verify it's operation. In short I don't want to be branded a bandwidth hog and be accused of overages unfairly. This data usage meter has a long history of inconsistencies from my research of other people's experiences over the past few years and if nothing else I want to be on record as contesting its accuracy.3.6KViews0likes5Comments
