Panoramic WiFi + Switch
I just upgraded to gigablast as my upload speeds were not fast enough for work from home. I decided to rent a modem from cox so that I can downgrade when I am able to go back to the office. When I got the modem/router home (Technicolor CGM4140COM) I noticed it only had 2 ethernet ports. I like to hardwire where available so I went out and bought an unmanaged switch (tp-link tl-SG1008D). It works fine so far. My question is should I use the other ethernet port on the technicolor for my computer which I do a lot of video streaming or use the switch, which has QoS? QoS is new to me (as are switches). Is there an advantage to using the switch for all of my wired connections? Thanks!2.1KViews0likes0CommentsQoS Router settings help to limit teens bandwidth
I am a Cox customer for 30 years. Have Premiere Internet 150/10 and happy with it, I am trying to configure settings on my router and posting here since what I want to limit is the Cox Intenet so I am hoping some tech mindedfolks can help me. My Internet works well - we have a few people in the home - one a teen who would stream to his hearts content if we let him. We have a Motorola6180 cable modem. Router is an ASus68U which is T-Mobile branded and called an AC 1900 My goal is to limit him and his Roku box to a stream of no more than 1 GB to 1.5 GB per hour On the router there are QoS setting which I enabled. Then there is another page with Individual settings and I can select his Roku box by MAC address and it fills in the port and stuff. The heading looks like this Service Name Source IP or MAC Destination Port Protocol Transferred Priority Add / Delet Under the transferredheading there are 2 boxes with a squiggly line between them ~ so box~ box in KB Any suggestions as to what figures to put in there to limit him? And if you could also explain it to me I would be most appreciative. And would it work for what I want to do? Thanks,Solved14KViews0likes10CommentsMultiple technicians and BBB complaint
I've had a total of 5 techs in my home and 3 line techs out. I'm being told this is a distribution problem. There is a representative i have been in communication with due to the BBB complaint. Basically going on 3 months with this issue and nothing has improved. I'm paying for COX Ultimate and intermittently i am barely able to get 10 mbps down and 5 up. Someone needs to actually fix this problem. Look at the entire issue and come to a conclusion. I just now lost connection to everything i was doing and then it immediately reconnects. I have been pressured into purchasing a new modem to the tune of $99. Nothing has improved. I've now filed an FCC complaint as well.2.9KViews0likes4CommentsQOS for Netgear CG3000D Make and Model: DN3000D ?
