Problems with home phone cutting in and out on a Cox line
I have had calls drop, garbled with or without a headset, and have even purchased a new phone that is DECT 6.0. The base is in close proximity to the router (just replaced it also) and modem. The phone base is about 3 feet from the router and 5 feet from the Cox modem with two other handsets in the house. On calls, I constantly get drops, garbling, and told I sound like I am underwater. I have had Cox out here numerous times with no luck finding problem. I purchased a better headset, but even when not using it, I still have some problems. This issue is intermittent. I have Cox Hub in my backyard, so I am close to it. This happens on long distant calls the most, as that is the calls I am usually on. The problem is the same as with the previous phone and previous router. In addition, there are times that the Caller ID does not work and just displays 'incoming call'. For the past week, the only time my phone fully works is from 2p-8p. The rest of the day, I HAVE a dial tone but no one can hear me. I can hear the other person perfectly, but they can’t hear anything I say. Just silence. During that time, my message system voice is all garbled and I can’t hear my voicemails. I have a Panasonic KX-TGF380, I’ve tried calls using the base phone, as well as the other 2 cordless phones but nothing. Cox has sent out 3 servicemen but they have zero clue. They have completely switched and given us new lines and new modems and everything. Any ideas or help? Happening to anyone else?8.8KViews0likes3CommentsUpdate/ replacement for DPQ3212
What's the replacement for the Cisco DPQ3212? It's been a terrible piece of equipment since install and I've been waiting for a replacement to be rolled out. It's also a 8x4 docsis 3.0 and a 32x8 or at least 24x8 should be available by now. The DPQ3212 does have the distinction of being terrible for for both voice emta and Cox slow spotty drop out internet service. Thanks!5KViews0likes1CommentPoor service
This weekend ( Labor day) we had very poor service. Phone calls were dropped while talking and internet speeds measured by OOkla ranged from 1.78 to >150. most were in the 1.5 to 4.54 range. Does the internet speed affect phone service or are there two different problems. Today the internet speed is back in the 150 range but still get dropped calls.2.6KViews0likes2CommentsMoving a phone from one room to another
I had a phone installed a year or more ago, at the time there was no charge to add this service, but when I contacted COX today, they informed me that they would charge $50.00 to move the phone from the room it is in now to another in the same house, same wiring, same TV, same internet...etc. What is so difficult about unscrewing a coax wire and screwing it into another room but for some reason, COX won't provide any service without charging ridiculous fees. It's literally a 5-10 minute job and I've managed to just get a coax extension, drill a hole and move it to the next room while it's still connected to the same outlet. The reasoning behind all these charges for doing something so simple is just another reason that COX is becoming the worst provider I've ever used. It's nothing but greed and the two words "Customer Service" don't exist at this company. Good luck to all who stay with this rip-off company. New Years resolution is to change providers ASAP.Solved4.5KViews0likes1CommentCisco DPQ3212, 15 minutes to switch from Power to Battery Back-up
Yesterday, I had my ARRIS Telephone NIU swaped out to a Cisco DPQ3212 eMTA. I was just testing the eMTA's ability to maintain a dial tone, by unplugging it, and there was no dial tone, yes I have a good battery. I rely on my phone for my alarm system. I called Cox support and they said it takes 15 minutes to switch from power to battery before there is a dial tone again. Is this true? Cox knew I had an Alarm System and did the rewire for the line seizure to the Alarm panel. If it truly takes 15 minutes to get a dial tone back, the customer should definitely be informed of that prior to a conversion from NIU to eMTA. I was planning to switch my mother from Centurlylink to Cox HSI and Phone, but if her power goes out, and it does frequently, and she cannot use the phone for 15 minutes, she would loose her mind.11KViews0likes12Comments
