Port Assignments
Chromecast is competing with other wireless devices, therefore I want to use QoS on my router to prioritize Netflix. To do that, I need to know what ports Netflix uses. Router people sent me to Netflix, Netflix doesn't know (at support), so I hoped to find here!9.9KViews0likes5CommentsI cannot launch the Netflix app on my new Contour 1 box. Please don't misunderstand; I think Cox' offering of Netflix as an additional source for on demand viewing is terrific and proactive. For sure they aren't going to up and fade away because of competition. However, be prepared to wait. and wait. and wait for it to load using Contour 2. If you already have a streaming device (Apple TV, Amazon Fire, Chromecast or Roku) I would heavily recommend using that instead of Contour. I tried unplugging the DVR which is connected to the TV I attempted to view Netflix on demand on---no joy there. Your individual experience, like an EPA mileage estimate, may indeed vary.7.5KViews0likes13CommentsInteresting issue with my Netflix streaming.....
I started having trouble with my Netflix streaming to my smart tv tonight so I began investigating and found something very interesting... Initially I tried a ping to netflix.com and every request timed out. I figured maybe their servers don't accept incoming pings so I tried a tracert next and this is what came back..... The last time I checked, Amazon didn't own Netflix, nor are they an ISP and they certainly don't own Cox. As soon as my connection moves from the Cox network over to Amazon you can see that all of the connection times go up, or even time out. Here's a tracert to Yahoo..... App crashes constantly (multiple times during a single 1 hour long show). DVR looks up and/or becomes unresponsive a few times a month. Just swapped out the DVR today and lost all our recordings, hoping this would resolve the issue. Nope, 2 netflix failures right off the bat. Went to the netflix app on our TV, watched 3 episodes with zero issues. Seriously rethinking why I have this DVR and/or even use the apps. Would save a ton of money and hassles to just cancel the cable service. I can't be the only one.6KViews0likes14CommentsNetflix Throttling
Does Cox throttle connections with Netflix? Over the last few days Netflix can't even go 5 minutes without slowing to a crawl, but other services like Hulu or Amazon Video are fine. Speed tests through the computer are all normal. Essentially everything works fine except for Netflix, though the service works fine on other providers.5.8KViews0likes2CommentsSLOW Streaming Netflix/Amazon (using wireless Internet)
I have a Samsung "smart tv", and a Tivo, both are connected via wireless to my internet service with Cox. Both, are super slow, lag, or quit on me, telling me my internet speed is too slow, or my connection is lost, etc. This happens when I am using Netflix, or Amazon Prime to watch movies (or tv episodes). And it happens whether I am streaming through my TV or through my Tivo. Only one is used at at a time, no other wireless is used in my house while I'm trying to use the TV/or Tivo. Does anyone have any suggestions of how I can fix this? (do I need to upgrade internet speed, buy better wireless adapters for TV and Tivo; connect directly to modem??? or anything else?) Please help!5.6KViews0likes3CommentsConnectivity Issues/Slow Speed
I have recently been having more and more problems with my internet. It started a few days ago and has since gotten worse. I can hardly connect to netflix or hulu, I am getting lag in my games, and when I did a speedtest online, it was anywhere from 3-6MB download. I have the upgraded package and was originally receiving 25MB speeds. What gives?3.1KViews0likes2CommentsNetflix locking up while streaming using wifi on Samsung Hand Set with COX, but works fine with AT&T Uverse
Anyone else experiencing this problem? Tested using Cox Hot Spots, and home wifi and AT&T residential connection. All four Cox Hot Spots had the same problem, AT&T Uverse worked fine. Seemed to start when Netflix upgraded their app for Android.2.7KViews0likes0Comments
