Pixelated TV Picture w/mini box
So I have the mini box on one of my TV's (can't afford to put any other mini boxes on other TV's). Local channel 8 will not load. The picture is broken and pixelated - like the TV can't get the signal and throw it up on the screen accurately. This is the same for local channel 11. These stations worked great about two weeks ago - not sure what the problem is. I tried rebooting the mini box and rescanning the stations, nothing has worked. Hummmmm...1.6KViews0likes1CommentMini box input selection
Has anyone figured out how to change the tv input using the mini boxes. When you touch the input button on the remote, it brings up the input selection screen, however no button on the remote will change the selection. I have three of these mixes with three different tv brands, and none of them work2.5KViews0likes2Commentsmini box keeps loosing guide
We have 3 of these boxes and occasionally they all loose the guide but not very often, except for one of them and it has gotten where it loses the guide almost every day. Sometimes it will not even bring the guide up. We have unplugged it and left if from a minute to 15 minutes or more. We have reset the connection from the COX website and/or just unplugged the main DVR. We checked and wiggled connections. Tried having it test itself, most times it says cannot connect but will sometimes and has updated itself when it did connect. We have run a channel scan. All of this has been done on a daily basis the past few days. We can fight with it for several hours and it finally comes back, not sure what fix actually worked on it. I am thinking this box is bad? How do we go about getting a new box, or should we try buying a new cable first?1.3KViews0likes1CommentWhat channels do I get with a Cox mini box?
I have Contour TV with 250+ channels in our living room. I want to hook up cable in my bedroom and in the kids room. I have read online with the mini box you only get a few channels. Am I not able to get all the same channels in the rooms with the mini box? If not, what is the best way to get all channels in those rooms with out paying 20 dollars more a month? Thanks!21KViews0likes7CommentsMini Box Intermittant Audio
I recently added a new mini box to my master bedroom tv. Previously I had used a direct feed to my digital tv's quam tuner. Initially the mini box operated terrifically, however, recently the audio has begun to drop out intermittently. It started with various stations audio sounding hollow and now manifests itself, again intermittently, with the audio dropping out completely. I reseated both the HDMI and wall cables, removed power and reset the mini box and tv, and even unselected multichannel decoding on the tv. All to no avail. Has anyone else experienced similar problems? BTW, the tv works fine with other external devices using HDMI inputs.2KViews0likes4CommentsMini-Box Channel Limitations
Gainesville, Florida, customers are being swamped with notices to order mini-boxes in prep for "going all digital." The slick, colorful literature makes it seem like it might even be a good idea to trade in an HD receiver. However, customers are not being told that mini-boxes will only show Starter & Essential channels, and not optional "paks" (movies, sports, etc.) or premium channels (HBO, Starz, etc). The only place where I saw this limitation mentioned was in fine-print at the bottom of the on-line channel list: *Channel not available on outlets connected via a mini box; requires either an Advanced TV Receiver, Contour Receiver or Cox-provided CableCard... If you have an HD-capable television connected via a mini box, you will be able to view an HD version of TV Starter and TV Essential channels [only] on the Standard Definition channel locations (Under 999), if available... [Emphasis added]. IMHO, the literature should be clearer about what channels the box will not show and its omission is misleading. <Just my 2 cents>3.4KViews0likes3Comments
