Can't Activate McAfee Security Suite Plus
Cox has the absolute worst technical support. I've contacted at least 8 tech people and no one can resolve this issue. I deactivated my McAfee Security Suite by mistake. The activate button appears, but when I click it, I get this error: We're sorry, we cannot activate your Cox Security Suite now. Please give it another try. Need help? Contact Customer Care or Live Chat. Now I'm getting a messages indicating that my computers are not protected and am prompted to purchase a McAfee subscription. NO, I DON'T HAVE A TRIAL VERSION OF MCAFEE INSTALLED ON ANY OF OUR LAPTOPS. The Cox McAfee Security Suite Plus has been install on these machines for many years. All trial software was uninstalled before the Cox security suite was installed. I spent over an hour on the phone with one tech, to walk through steps that I pretty much knew was not the problem. She had me to reboot the modem, use a different browser, use a different computer, etc. If it's not in the manual, they are at a lost. No thinking going on there. I just need my McAfee subscription reactivated so that I can remove old computers and install onto a new one. That's it. It should be a very simple task, but absolutely none of your tech people can get this done. It's totally pathetic.462Views0likes4CommentsSecurity Suite update not branded. No graphic logo was installed for the app Home page. No McAfee, No Cox Security Suite! ?? looks generic/un realiable
My security Suite was updated to the new version of Mcafee. However, there is no App identification or branding inside the app. On the Home page? This looks pretty unprofessional and cheesy for an Anti Virus we are supposed to be counting on for all our PRIVATE, Sensitive personal informration. I want something that can at least look professional2.6KViews0likes7CommentsMcAfee My Account Portal
Bought a new laptop and tried to download the free McAfee from Cox. Opened the pagewww.cox.com/securitysuite, entered my primary id and password, and received a message that "Something went wrong. Please contact Customer Support for assistance." Contacted customer service who transferred me 3 times then disconnected me.. Anyone else had this issue before? Could my primary id be causing the issues? Should I try contacting McAfee?833Views0likes2CommentsCox Security Suite Plus
McAfee is active on a newly purchased laptop for a trial period to expire; my question is it best to uninstall this existing promo McAfee subscription prior to downloading the subscription of Cox Security Suite Plus from Internet Tools in My Account on Cox.net? If I do not remove an existing active McAfee subscription, will Cox Security Suite Plus (which I believe is also McAfee) cleanly install over the promo subscription.2.7KViews0likes1CommentMcAfee and RootKit
A recent virus scan hung up while scanning "rootkit". I searched for a file called "rootkit" on my system and found none. I ran the scan again and it completed OK with no viruses detected, but I noticed that scanning "rootkit" was displayed a number of times during the scan. Following the advice in the forum I downloaded and ran Microsoft Safety Scanner which said no infected files were found. I also downloaded and ran McAfee's rootkitremover which again said no Trojan viruses were found. I've also run Safety Scanner on the other computer that I have on my home network and again it was clean. My virus scanner version is 16.8. Do I have a problem?2.2KViews0likes2CommentsDid McAfee monkey with TCPIP or Client settings?
Had trouble with McAfee a few days ago. I finally downloaded McAfee Virtual Technician, which found: Expected File not Present c:\program files\mcafee\virusscan\mcvsoutil.dll I did an on-line Chat with Dileesh Das. Then phone call with Zack in Louisiana to remove completely then re-install the new McAfee to fix it. It was OK or so I thought. Worked OK all day. Then re-boot (over night) and presto, NO INTERNET ! Since then, I found that either the NIC is zapped or McAfee changed some SETTINGS like under Control Panel, Network Connections, Local Area Connections, Properties. Maybe TCPIP, or Client for MS Networks. I called Cox, and was on hold a long time. An hour later I got hung up. Called back. I'm still on hold. So has this happened to anyone else?3.2KViews0likes6Comments
