Cox internet issues in my home
I have lived in my home for 3 years. I have always had the gigablast internet with unlimited data. I have also always had issues with my speed and connection. Never getting above 300Mbps down. I have contacted customer service in the past regarding the issues nothing ever gets solved so I am posting for others to be weary. For the last 3 years I have had panoramic WiFi and over the last several months my panoramic router just keeps dropping the connection. Then it boots back up and I have to manually reset it to get my smart devices and things to connect again. I was sick of it. So I went to Best Buy and bought a new Netgear modem and a top tier router. All Docsis 3.1 capable and and gigabit download capable. I am still only getting speeds in the 300Mbps down. But at least with my new Linksys gaming router and this new modem all my devices will auto reconnect which is something they would not do before. I am super frustrated and I may just switch my ISP. I hear OEC now offers fiber in my area.I feel lied to and cheated by Cox. I have tried every speed test site out there I have disabled WiFi and connected directly to the modem and done speed test still never better than 350Mbps down. I have tried those same test at different times still no improvement. Why have I been paying for gigablast if I never get those speeds. If anyone knows of any way to resolve this issue I am open to suggestions. I am tired of having to rest my modem or router and I am tired of my connection always randomly dropping and booting back up at all time of the day and night. Coxinternet is down more than it's up in my area (San Juan Capistrano). Cox does not have the bandwidth to handle all the residents in this area. I'm paying for 1 Gig, but I can't watch a 30-minute TV show (Youtube TV) without it pausing for 10 minutes (every 20 minutes). We have huge packet loss when gaming. Internet goes on/off while we are working. It's worse after 9pm. Speed Tests - LOL! All that speed means nothing when you can't use the internet. Can we please get an estimated date when Cox will expand their network at (Del Obispo / Windjammer)? I'm new to the area. Are we hostage or do we have any other choices, beside Cox? I would like a solution plus a partial refund/discount for constant disruptive service. I have tried Cox support multiple times and am always just told to buy new equipment. Anyways, I have an Arris modem that was purchased less than 2 years ago when I moved to my current house. My modem will show all blue lights which tells me that my internet should be connected, however, all my devices will disconnect despite the fact that they show I have full strength internet. The follow devices are what I typically have connected (they all lose connection when this happens): TCL Smart TV (ethernet connected) iPhone X (wireless connected) MacBook Air (I switch between wifi and ethernet based on where I am in my house) It feels like I have to reset both my modem and router (just the modem doesn't seem to work) multiple times a week lately. Typically I would just do the reset and get on with my life, however, I do online ESL tutoring a few times a week and have been disconnected from the students and I'm now in fear that this job will soon be in jeopardy because these families pay a lot of money to be tutored by someone who keeps getting disconnected. The only solution Cox had was to buy a new router. Any thoughts? Things work fine for a time after resetting my modem and router, but it's a huge inconvenience and could cost me someneededincome. We have a cable modem and router (separate units) that we have supplied ourselves (that is, they are not ones we rent from Cox). Does Cox limit the number of devices (e.g. laptop, Macbook Pro, iPhones, iPads, Roku boxes, etc.) that I can connect to the internet through my router? I heard someone mention once that they had an issue with the number of devices that their ISP allowed them to connect to their Wi-Fi router, but I wasn't sure if that was something that Cox did or not.8.9KViews0likes1CommentInternet connection slow
Having issues where my internet connection slows to a crawl. My upload speed test will return 0.01mbps. Having a hard time staying connected in online games and even browsing the internet. Hi! I am paying for the ultimate Internet monthly which says I am supposed to be receiving up to 150 down and 20 up, but what seems to be occurring is that the service fluxuates horribly. One minute I will have amazing connection, then I will be down to their lowest service possible.
