I've noticed my Internet bandwidth and latency appear to be suffering the past 24 hours. Streaming audio/video buffer constantly, even your Internet Speed test times out. Is there work being performed in the Bellevue/Omaha metropolitan area, or is something wrong with my particular household? I've rebooted routers and cable modem numerous times with no improvement.1.5KViews0likes2CommentsConnection Keeps Dropping
Good evening. I had a technician out yesterday to move our router to an upstairs office. I understand he updated our connections and found that we had an excellent signal strength, yet my connection drops 3-5 times or more a day. As I work from home and rely on a VOIP phone (plugged directly into router) this is extremely troublesome. I've tried resetting the modem and unplugging the router multiple times. When it happens, the all router lights turn off, then everything disconnects and resets - VOIP, connection on laptop, wifi on cell phone, etc. Should we just have another technician come out? We're renting a Netgear N900 from Cox.1.5KViews0likes1CommentModem Resets itself all the time
Hello, Our internet is dodgy at best. If we have 4 home devices on it, one or multiple start to lag tremendously. Also, the modem goes through spurts where it just resets itself over and over again. I erased all of our MAC Addresses, but I posted the log below. With my educational and professional background, it looks like the signal is not coming from Cox like it should. The signal is being lost somewhere. Any thought on what to do or look for? And, no, there are no splitters. There is a cable from the wall to the modem. We have 2 ethernet cables coming from the back of the modem going to 2 computers. Everything else is on WIFI. This is what I seem to be coming home to each day , slow intermittent web browsing and download speeds, the modem log is full of partial service events , reset the modem each of the last few days and it starts to build up again pretty fast. any suggestions beyond the obvious level 1 tech support which I have already run through. Asus router AC87u Surfboard 6190 have tried eliminating the router same issues, do have an emta modem running the phone on a splitter also1.6KViews0likes1CommentMy Cox Modem keeps going down/several times a day
My Cox modem kept going down/up many times a day, finally had a Cox representative come out on 3/11 and things worked great for 3 weeks and then it started again every day. Every time I talk or chat with a support person all they do is send a new reset which only lasts for a couple of hours. I am getting so frustrated and want to know if anyone else has some answers. I do have the Cox 3 in 1 modem/router which worked great for 2 years and now has been replaced with a new one and still the same problems. HELP. Thanks, Sandy N1.6KViews0likes1CommentHaving outages that begin around 11:00pm EST?
During the week of 15 to 22 April, I got complete outages that begin somewhere between 11:00 and 11:30PM EST - always during this window. These outages can be intermittent or complete disconnects from one hour to several hours. Cox technical support claims that are no known outages in my area. I could explain everything I've done on my end (e.g., direct connect, new modem, tests, etc.), but the problem is definitely with Cox. Whatever maintenance or upgrades they are doing, they are not telling the Tech Support personnel at their tech support call center. So frustrating when they insinuate it's your (our / my) end and the time this occurs is always the same, which clearly points to Cox doing something. I've spent hours checking, grooming, replacing my whole network. So at this point I feel insulted. They suggested a tech visit, so I said OK just to prove it's not my end. Their window; 8:00 to 10:00am. I got a call at 9:45am saying the tech was running late and should be there before 10:30am. At 10:45am I called Cox to cancel. They said they're sending another tech who should be here any moment. I still said I was canceling. At 10:50am, a tech showed up. I politely explained that I cancelled the appointment, and all I wanted anyway was to prove it wasn't my end. Additionally, there could be a charge for the visit. For a support visit that they picked the time for, with a tech showing up 50 minutes past their 2-hour window, and that they would possibly charge me for this visit, I feel insulted a second time.1.7KViews0likes2CommentsIntermittent internet connection loss, Airport Extreme (newest version) router and SB6141 modem
For several weeks I have experienced intermittent loss of connection to internet, sometimes resolving spontaneously but other times requiring reboot (power off/power on) of cable modem (Arris SB6141). Cox support by (phone and by local technician visits to home) show proper signal levels to modem. Arris/Motorola support also says modem checks out OK, according to signal levels, etc., in the modem status pages. Internet speed test for my level of service (Preferred) has been normal when the internet connection is present. The connection loss in recent weeks is typically in the 12 midnight to 2:00 am time period. On the two most recent occasions Cox reps denied a known maintenance outage, stated my problem was unique. Local in-home wifi network works fine; only internet connection is lost. On my latest call to cox tech support, the tech ran tests and suspected a problem with the cable modem (Arris SB6141) and arranged for a new modem to be shipped to me (Cisco DPC3010). This arrived but I have not connected it yet, pending further research. Researching the issue, I found reports of alleged incompatibility between Cox and the Airport Extreme router, possibly related to Cox’s IPv6 implementation of IPv6 and the AE router IPv6 settings. There are also reports of incompatibility between the Arris Sb6141 modem and the AE router. Question: Are there any setup parameters in the Airport Extreme router that I should try before changing out to the new modem? Something perhaps related to interaction between the AE router and SB6141 modem, or between the AE router settings and Cox’s IPv6 requirements? My current router settings are Configure IPv6 “Automatically” (other choices are “link-local only” and “manually”) and IPv6 Mode “Native” (other choice is “tunnel”).56KViews0likes31Comments
