I have the DPC3825 router/modem combo. I use it for both hard wired and wireless connections. I want to SSH, remote in, on port 22 to a small linux machine I have. I have a another linux machine that when I plug it into the combo unit it automatically opens up port 22 and I can access it from outside my LAN network. The port is not opened on the combo unit either. So I plugged in my other linux unit, set it up properly (from what I know) and can't SSH into it. I then opened the port up and still can't SSH into the new linux unit. It does not make sense to me how my first linux box can be accessed outside the network with no ports forwarded on my combo unit. Any advice on what I can do? Further, can I go to my local cox store and switch out my combo unit I received from them and get just a modem with no wifi? Thanks!2.4KViews0likes4CommentsCisco DPC3825 Only Getting 54MBPS
Hello Customer Support, I am located in Orange County and I have my DPC3825 configured for B/G/N Mixed mode. While sitting next to the wireless router, I can only get 54MBPS on my laptop. I know that when I am at work or others' houses, it indicates I am connected at 130MBPS. Can you advise what is the best configuration details to get back to at least 130MBPS? My current settings are: B/G/N Mixed mode. 2.4GHz Band. Auto Channel. Everything else is default. *** Lastly, my wife's VPN continuously drops out every 5 minutes connected through this router. Any suggestions? Thanks very much, -king kong4.8KViews0likes11Commentsfirmware upgrade for my DPC3825 WiFi Modem

I've been experiencing inconsistent download and upload speeds the past few days. I've done a few speed tests throughout the past few days and my download speed is, for the most part, fine and sort of consistent. Usually about 30-40 MBPS. As for my upload speed, it is very inconsistent and is constantly dropped. Making it difficult to load pages, watch videos, stream, game, etc. It sometimes will drop to as low as under 1 MBPS. It varies from high 20's to around 15-20, below 10's etc. I've tried resetting my router using the reset button, unplugging the power cord and even tried a hard reset, but to no avail. I've googled around and read some discussions and thought it may be that my router needs an upgrade on its firmware. I see that you guys do that automatically, but a few devices may fall behind here and there and I was wondering if that was the problem with my case.3.2KViews0likes3CommentsCisco DPC3825 and iPHONE 4S can only log onto wifi with Out of the box SSID and Password

I have tried 6x to change name/pW but No Go. Also the 1st time I set it up I had to reset it because it did not recognize the password even though I had a screen shot so I am Certain I input it correctly and right now I see that again the New name and PW I setup yesterday and successfully used to log on to router is now not recognized. Why does Cox not allow port forwarding on the Cisco DPC 3825 gateway? You can't even update the firmware because that's under Cox control too. As I see it it's simply a way for Cox to make more money by making you purchase the premium tech support for $100 and so much a month thereafter or a one time $60 to set it up for you. For $180 a month I'm not paying more money. I feel like I'm being ripped off! Here's what happens... log into gateway>applications and gaming>port range forwarding>enter external start and end port, internal ip address, start and end port, enable and click save. Pop up stating "The page at 192.168.0.1 says: the setting of port must between 1~65,535: 0" . I certainly didn't try all 65535 port numbers but any number I did try didn't work. What gives? Anyone else have a problem with this?5.7KViews0likes3CommentsLocation of the cable modem?
When we started our service last year, I wanted the modem installed near the PS3/TV so I could run a network cable directly to the PS3. I was not able to be home when it was installed, and the technician put the modem by the computer. Meanwhile I get 1/4 the internet speed at the device that needs speed the most. Is there any reason I would NOT want to move the modem away from the main PC? The PC has a wireless adapter, so connectivity is not an issue. I am seriously considering having the modem moved, but I want to know if there are any issues that this could cause.2.1KViews0likes1CommentDPC3825 WiFI Signal Becomes Unstable
