Cox Premier Only Downloading 36 Mbps
I recently upgraded to the Cox 50 Mbps (Premier) from 25 Mbps (Preferred) in the Manhattan, KS area (66502). I am currently only attaining download speeds of MAX 36 Mbps and upload speeds of MAX 12 Mbps according to Speedtest.net. I've tested this via a Macbook Pro hardwired directly to the modem, as well as wirelessly through an Airport Extreme base station (5th Generation). Furthermore, I utilize a personally purchased Motorola Surfboard SB6121 with the latest firmware pushed from the ISP, so DOCSIS 3.0 isn't the issue. Any suggestions?Solved6KViews0likes5CommentsZoom 5350
Anyone have best settings for the Zoom 5350, including wireless? I already found out about the "IP Flood Detection" option, but trying to maximize my combo modem/wireless router. Also, I tried finding firmware updates for this unit, but Zoom states it needs to come from Cox - any idea if this will happen?5.4KViews0likes2CommentsSlow internet speed on Premier?
I'm on Premier and just upgraded to a Cisco DPC3000 DOCSIS 3.0 modem and ASUS RT-N65U router. Had a Motorola Surfboard SB5101U DOCSIS 2.0 modem and Linksys WRT54G router previously. I was hoping for a speed increase, but that didn't seem to happen! Previously I'd get around 3MB/s download and 300KB/s upload consistently, and those are the same speeds I'm getting now with the new equipment. Using the speedtest from Cox, it says that I get 27Mbps down 16Mbps up, and using Speedtest.net I get 27Mbps down 8Mbps up. Premier speeds are supposed to be 50Mbps aren't they? Is it because I need to update the firmware on my new router, or are these speeds normal? Thanks in advance!4.5KViews0likes2CommentsUnacceptably Slow Performance
For the past few days, and various times. Afternoon, evening, and late at night, our connection in the house has been fluctuating at an alarming rate. I believe we are on the preferred or premier package, one that offers 20-30mbps down. For weeks I've been seeing speeds just barely hitting around 20.50mbps download (on the days it works correctly) only for the connection to spend most of it's time at terrible speeds on other days. Example below: We had a tech come out several months back (this problem has been present off and on as far back as late 2012,) couldn't find a problem, had no idea what packet loss was, etc. It was worth mentioning Cox had been doing line maintenance in the area both before and after the problem was noticed. After their "maintenance," I started seeing it get as bad as the following: Is there anyone in the Hampton Roads area, specifically around Portsmouth (State of Virginia) experiencing issues like this? Can anyone at Cox shed some light as to what the problem might be? I've called the automated support number numerous times. I've power cycled the modem and router numerous times and checked all my lines and connections inside the house, it's nothing on my end, at least nothing I can do anything about personally to my knowledge. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.4.4KViews0likes5CommentsExtra Slow Service
I would think if you spent good money on an upgraded service that you'd get the speed you pay for, or at least most of what you pay for. Unfortunately my 25Mbs service is getting about 10-12Mbs and a 80-120 ping on a day to day average. Is it possible my equipment is to blame, or is it just Cox not delivering what they get payed to deliver? Hello, there have been a few recent posts addressing the same issue I'm having and seems that mods are able to help. Tiers were recently upgraded to run at higher speed but after the increase I am still running at my old speed on downstream (~30mbps) when it should be 50mbps. My upload seems to have increased but not down. I've reached out to several techs over the phone with no luck. I have gone as far as buying a new Motorola SB6141 from a SB6120 thinking the additional channels would help. This wasn't the case so now I turn to these forums. If a mod can help it would be much appreciated!3.1KViews0likes4CommentsUpgraded to Premier service but still getting preferred speeds
Hello and thank you for reading. I upgraded to Cox Premier from preferred yesterday 7/19. However, I am still getting preferred speeds. After the Premier upgrade I am receiving the same 25 Mbps down (using either my router, or direct from my PC). My modem is showing 4 bonded downstream and 2 bonded upstream. I have checked all wire connections, cables, and performed several speed tests on various sites, but my download speed cannot achieve greater than 25Mbps. I also emailed cox.help@cox.com about this and included a link referencing related threads in this forum. Any assistance solving this problem is greatly appreciated! The Cox tech showed me how to test my Cox internet speed at speedtest.net, and subsequently claimed that my 1.09Mps download speed was sufficient for video streaming. But, the Amazon.com customer service claims that clear video streaming on my desktop computer requires 1.5Mbps minimum internet speed. And, according to speedtest.net (verified by Cox customer service), my 1.09Mbps through Cox broadband is extremely slow compared to the rest of the USA in broadband speed. I've already invested a lot of time in phone calls with Cox, Amazon, and Netflix customer service reps. Has anyone else in Northwest Arkansas been experiencing less than 1.5Mbps with Cox broadband internet, and poor video streaming quality on your computers this month? TerraVista2.9KViews0likes1CommentDownload speed drops to ~30mbps on a 500mbps plan daily. Upload speed unaffected.
I noticed others have had this exact same issue in the past year. Download speeds constantly drop to 30 mbps on a 500 mbps plan. | Cox Community Some days the download speed will revert to what it should be. More often than not, nothing changes unless I reset the modem and router. Even then, the correct download speed only remains for a few minutes before reverting to ~30mbps. I'm paying $150/month for this. The services advertised are not being provided. Not even close.534Views1like28Comments
