Contour DVR is garbage
This will be a major rant. We moved into our new house 2 years agon and since then nothing but issues with Contour's so called DVR. At the time we signed up for it nobody said anything about it being a cloud DVR (guess I should have researched it more). We came over from Directv because att was a major pain to deal with on billing but it seems Cox has followed in their footsteps. My issues are as follows. 1. Recordings are cut short and not by just a minute or 2 but a 1 hour show records 5 secs, a few minutes and then just stops recording. 2. Trying to rewind or fast forward a show at least 50% of the time results in delay and the screen appears to freeze and then the message that says there was an issue on our end or restart the box and tighten the connections on the box and at the wall. This is a major load of ** from COX which is nothing more than an excuse for old, outdated and crappy equipment. 3. Also whenever the internet goes down we cannot watch anything since the so called dvr is in the cloud and not a physical drive so there in lies another issue. In my opinion if I wanted to stream everything which in case you did not realize it yet is exactly what you are doing, the contour box is nothing more than a large oversized Amazon Firestick, Roku Box or any of many streaming devices. Oh and the picture quality on my 4k tv ** since I just discovered COXis downgrading the video to 720. 4. If I call in or chat with someone the first thing they say is we need to restart your box and if I hear that again I will explode and at this moment I am about to throw COX in the garbage and go somewhere else where at least I will get the same crappy billing issues and most likely service as well and by the way I do not like Century Link for internet because of the issues we had when they were qwest. I just had my previous Contour box swapped out this morning with a new one because the old one just stopped working. Because of that I lost the entire run of a couple of shows that I was watching. I am trying to set the scheduling to rebuild those shows, but the SCHEDULED SHOWS is not showing the shows that I have set to be scheduled. I am trying to tape "Mom" and it is on lots of channels like Paramount, Nickalodeon, CBS, and others. It is only showing as being scheduled for recording on a local independent. When I go to GUIDE, it does not show the red dot. When I click on a show that should be recorded, I can individually select the episode, or select the entire show (across every channel). I should be able to choose the latter and every time it appears it records. This box does not seem to be doing that. I am choosing "New and Repeat" episodes, by the way.2.1KViews0likes1Commenterror code XRE-06034 when trying to delete shows
I get an error code XRE-06034 "sorry we weren't able to delete your recording. If you continue to have trouble, restart your set-top box then try deleting again" when I try to delete shows from my dvr. So far I've tried: restarting the box, through the settings restarting the box, by unplugging for 2 minutes unplugging all boxes, restarting the main dvr box waiting for a full reboot before starting the other box. Nothing is working.16KViews0likes24CommentsContour 2 Software Glitch
I am disappointed with our experience after upgrading to the new Contour 2 record-6 DVR and voice remote. At first, we thought it was going to be really nice, then after the first day, we realized that the Cisco 9865 model will not maintain our selected setting for video or audio. This unit reboots overnight, then will default to 720P HD resolution and Stereo audio. What is the point of buying high-end home theater equipment when you have a shabby, low-end cable box? After resetting everything and waiting another day, the darn Cisco unit did the same thing. I did some research and learned that this is a known "glitch". We paid for service Tech to install this unit, and ultimately had to go to a Cox solutions store to trade in for a new version of this box and install it ourselves. Some people may not notice any difference in sound and video depending on their own TV setup, but we sure did. I really resent having to pay for a service call and then end up needing to exchange and install anyway. It seems as if Cox is just hoping that they can palm off these inferior models to unsuspecting customers. Not ethical!Solved4.9KViews0likes7CommentsMissing Recordings
Our Cox DVR is not recording shows that have been scheduled for recording. A quick look at the guide reveals the red circle, indicating these shows are designated for recording, yet they are not being recorded. This might be because of recording conflicts, but I do not see any way to understand whether this occurred, either by some type of "notice" or reviewing a "missed recordings" tab. It seems as though the Cox receiver should tell you if there is a scheduling conflict. I am not sure what to do.1.1KViews0likes1CommentContour Recording
Sent a post regarding Contour 1 box not recording a program when it was in fact programmed to do so. To add, I was either recording only one other show - or possibly no other show - at the time of the failed recording recording. So either two or three tuners active at the time the program failed to record. Again, never made it to the "Recorded" Programs list: stayed on the "Scheduled" recording list even though the Program Guide displayed the "recording" red ball. Just a plain failure of the Contour 1 box to record? And might have misshaped the initial post's tag. Should have been Contour DVR.1.1KViews0likes1Comment
