Transfer account
I am moving to Texas where I don't plan on having Cox. I want to transfer the account I have in my name to my roommate (we share it anyway), however, I don't have a phone. How can I get this done? Or shall I just cancel the account and let him start a new one? I don't want him to have to pay that start-up cost when it's already working.10KViews0likes3CommentsCan't get Cox to successfully connect my new SB6120 modem.
cox costumer service and techs have failed to help me activate my new motorola sb6120 modem. Although they have said that the modem is broken and to return it, I've called motorola and have had second opinions from other techs and they've all said that the modem works fine, that the problem is from the ISPs end. Everytime i've asked cox to update my modem with the latest firmware and reprovision it, they refuse to acknowledge my questions and requests. there are a lot of people with this problem online, do any other cox users have or at any point had this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.8.2KViews0likes18CommentsGigablast Activation
Before today i had the 300 meg service with 500gig of extra data plan. I went into a cox store to upgrade to Gigablast (using my own brand new modem -Arris SB8200). I was advised by the rep that I could get both unlimited data and homelife for only 10/mo more (no contract). I decided to do that. She then asked if i had my new modem with me (i did), so i brought it into the store and she said she activated it for me. Went home, the modem was NOT activated. Went back to the store and the guy advised the first person hadnt put in the mac address for the modem. Went back home and this time the modem was active. However, the lights on the front are green and not blue (which im led to believe means im not on the 3.1 streams). I chatted in the and the chat guy for Cox said it's not active yet and to call a number (1-405-600-7676) I called that number and the nice lady said i WAS active already on gigablast. I advised how multiple speed test sites (speedtest.net, cox's own speed test, etc.) indicate in the range of 300meg AND how the router lights are still green AND how the 1st chat person said it wasnt active yet. She said have the homelife guy look at it when he comes. I chatted in more time after that and the 2nd chat person ALSO said it was NOT active and could NOT be made active until homelife is active for reasons that im not entirely sure of. Is it accurate to say that since i got talked into homelife i now have to wait for that to be setup BEFORE i can get my gigablast speeds? I do not know how the two things are interwined and why a switch couldnt be flipped right now to put me on the faster internet speeds. (on my own i tested multiple ethernet cables, reset the modem and router, powercycled the modem, tried hooking PC directly to the modem, tried different outlets (store guy's suggestion....still same speed prior to the upgrade)Solved3.2KViews0likes4CommentsCox Security Software download?
Is anybody having trouble downloading the anti-virus software from the cox.com website? I'm having problems. The page just show a small crossed out circle where the picture of the product is suppose to be and the download button is not there where the instructions say it should be.2.9KViews0likes0CommentsI've got a bill with charges I have not asked for and have not received. Am I alone?
I just received a first bill... I have ordered Internet online and it should cost me $49.99 with ZERO activation fee. Cox promised it on their site. They stated that they prepared a self-activation kit for pick up at their location (without any fee). In fact I do not need any kit from them and I do not know what it is and even do not want to know what it is, because I do not need it. I already have all hardware necessary to connect to their network. I called to check the status of the order and to tell them I do not need any activation kit, they told me that everything is Ok and I could activate the service soon. I activated it successfully and everything was Ok until I got the first bill. They charged me for the "Intenet activation Kit" - $30. You remember, they promised it would be free. You remember I do not need it. You remember, I have not received it. They charged me for "WiFi Modem - Dual Band Rental" - $9.99. I did not ask them for any modems. I have my own modem. They have not provided me any modems. They charged me for "Equipment Deposit" - $25. What is it??? So I have one question. Am I just lucky, or this is just habitual for Cox? Is anyone had similar experience with Cox?2.8KViews0likes2CommentsModem Activation
Last week I bought myself a new Motorola MB8611 DOCSIS 3.1 modem, and plugged everything in to go through the activation process. This is the third time I've replaced my modem so I'm familiar with it and have never had issues. This time though, trying to go to /activate and follow the steps - if the pages bother to load - is painfully slow. Finally, if I manage to get to the user login part of the process, it throws a 503 "Service is down or overloaded" error. I've done this multiple times in the last week and get the same response. Is there something wrong with the service? Is there something wrong with the modem? Thanks.1.9KViews0likes8Comments
