Ethernet and Wireless Dropping Consistently
Modem Cisco dpc3010 Router Gryhon ac3000 Plan Preferred 150 I have two computers connected via ethernet and multiple devices connected to wireless (watch, phone, tv) Randomly our internet disconnects and reconnects through the day. It gets worse at night. It affects both ethernet connection and wireless connection. Last night the modem just rebooted all on it's own in the middle of us having a game night. (After disconnecting multiple times throughout the night) When I test our internet via gryhon, we are getting more than 150 which is great but I'm wondering if that has anything to do with the internet dropping all the time. It's frustrating because we've put a lot of money into a router after speeds were ** and internet was dropping which solved the speed but not the dropping. I've tried rebooting my router and modem. Tried disconnecting everything from the wall (power and cable) then reconnecting after 30 min. All firmware is up to date on both modem and router. Tried disconnecting everything connected to the internet except for one computer via ethernet, still drops. I'm just not sure what's going on and I dont have the patience for support to tell me to reset my modem/router then blame it on the 3rd router or 2nd modem I've purchased.1.5KViews3likes4CommentsSamsung Smart TV connectivity
I have a problem with only ONE of my Samsung Smart TVs connecting to my Netgear AC1900/C6300BD router. There are times when it connects and is usable. Other times I need to use the wired connection (using WiFi repeater) when the wireless fails. At times, even the "wired" connection won't work (since in reality, it's wireless, though the "smart" TV doesn't know that). Anyway...all other devices work, tablets, phones, computers, printers, etc. on wireless. New problem last night...used wireless for Netflix, but picture quality was terrible, changing from clear HD quality to fuzzy 1960's color TV mode (yeah, I'm that old). I tried disconnecting from the wireless network and switched to "wired", and neither would connect to the router. So, I reset the router, and all was well. To further muddy the waters, this TV/router combination worked fine before we moved from Mesa to Buckeye (wired cable -- Mesa, Optic Fiber -- Buckeye). Any suggestions? I've also tried to use a manually entered IP (vs. automatic)..and three extremely unsuccessful tries with Cox chat sessions.1.7KViews0likes1CommentSlow connection question
I have the 50 Mbps package and over the last week my speeds have been slow. The speed test I just did was 9 mbps down and 2 Mbps up. Is there somehing going on in the Oklahoma market that would cause this. I have the modem/router that came with my package. As for connection, I am totally wireless in my home. One laptop, two kindles, and three smartphones. While all may be connected only the laptop and the Kindles use the Internet simultaneously.1.3KViews0likes1Comment- 1.4KViews0likes1Comment
SLOW Streaming Netflix/Amazon (using wireless Internet)
I have a Samsung "smart tv", and a Tivo, both are connected via wireless to my internet service with Cox. Both, are super slow, lag, or quit on me, telling me my internet speed is too slow, or my connection is lost, etc. This happens when I am using Netflix, or Amazon Prime to watch movies (or tv episodes). And it happens whether I am streaming through my TV or through my Tivo. Only one is used at at a time, no other wireless is used in my house while I'm trying to use the TV/or Tivo. Does anyone have any suggestions of how I can fix this? (do I need to upgrade internet speed, buy better wireless adapters for TV and Tivo; connect directly to modem??? or anything else?) Please help!5.6KViews0likes3Commentsterrible signal strength and loss of connection
I use a Motorola SB6121 for a cable modem and airport extreme for wireless router. The motorola is 5 months old. For about ten days we experienced wide variations in wireless connectivity, from .5 mps download to 30 mps. This was entirely new after 5 months of cox internet service working great. I spoke with COX and they checked signal strength on live, walked me through a series of reboots of modem and router. They checked the signal on their end. They said it was not a problem on their end. I spoke with motorola and they walked me through a series of diagnostics and resets of their modem. The signal via a direct Ethernet cable from the modem to the computer worked great at that time. I spoke with Apple and they ran me through diagnostics and finally replaced by airport extreme (it was under warranty). Results: 1. When I first hooked up the router and the cable modem after the router was replaced, I had a great signal -- 32 mps, which is as good as it gets here. 2. 4 hours later the connection dropped and then became very slow. 3. I plugged the cable modem directly into my computer and got a full signal. I left it oversight doing an offline backup. 4. The connection was lost during the night with a direct hookup to the cable modem. It seems the problem is clearly not the modem or the router but something in the cox system, as none of these pieces of equipment causes the problem. They are new equipment. What shall I do?Solved3.8KViews0likes2CommentsWireless constantly disconnects
My wireless connection constantly disconnects. The time it takes for each disconnect to occur varies between 5 seconds and about 10 minutes. Sometimes the only way to get it connected again is to reset the modem, sometimes if you just do nothing the connection comes back on it's own. The wireless connection is never steady for more than about 10 minutes during any time of the day. This is with all devices using wireless connections (3 different laptops, 3 different phones, PS3, etc). The Xbox 360 I have set up with a wired connection works fine and seems to never disconnect, same when I use a wired connection on my laptop (though it does seem to be slower than advertised). I'm at work at the moment, so all I can say now is that I have the high speed ultimate package with a Cisco modem (Dpq3925? not entirely sure on the model number, can update once I get home) and I am in the Newport News, VA area.2.8KViews0likes0CommentsWireless vs LAN connectivity issues
Just got internet service. Over LAN I can stream video and play games with no problem. Over wireless I can't stream a video even if I'm sitting right next to the router. My devices (which were perfectly fine using wireless at my last home) have continuous connectivity issues and are constantly freezing to the point that they actually need to be rebooted. Does Cox offer a decent wireless router? I have no idea which one I have, but it's horrible. If Cox doesn't offer a decent wireless router, can I buy one and just connect it to the existing cable hookup? Thanks for any help.2.3KViews0likes1CommentWireless router antenna pattern (DPQ3925)
I have the Cisco DPQ3925 router/gateway and noticed that the wireless coverage in my townhouse varies considerably. Does anyone have an idea how the built-in antennae are oriented and what the shape of the covered space is? It seems that the signal at the top is much stronger that at the bottom. Could anyone confirm? Thanks.Solved5.6KViews0likes5Comments
