DVR playback - black bars surround picture
I get black bars surrounding the TV picture but only during playback of TV shows recorded on the DVR. Live channels fill the entire screen. It almost seems to have something to do with the Picture in Picture settings (those at the bottom of the DVR remote). I am not using the PIP features, but pressing the Swap button on the Cox remote switches back to live TV (which may be normal operation?). My setup is simple: coax from wall to DVR, one HDMI cable from DVR to TV. DVR is new, just picked up from Cox last week (Contour). TV is about one year old, Vizio. How can I get a full size screen during playback of recorded shows?2.5KViews0likes1CommentRecord 6 DVR Simultaneous Recording
I have the Contour record 6 Cisco Explorer 9865HDC DVR and three client boxes, I believe they are Pace XiD HD models. The problem is, each client box uses one of the tuners on the record 6 DVR, no matter if the client box is actively viewing content or not. This means that if three shows are simultaneously recording on the DVR, you can not watch live TV using the record 6 DVR. The system prompts you to disable one of the currently recording programs in order to view live TV. On the previous Contour system there was a menu option to disable buffering on the client boxes, which freed up the tuner. On the new Contour system, I can not find this setting. Is there a fix for this annoying problem?8KViews0likes10CommentsAdditional Cox Contour 2 Voice Activated Remotes
I found, as previously assured by Cox On-line Support, that the Xfinity/Comcast XR11 Voice Activated Remotes worked flawlessly with my Cox Contour 2 system. They are readily available on Amazon and cost-effective alternative to purchasing additional remotes from Cox.3.2KViews0likes4CommentsContour 2 System with 2 DVR Hosts
I have a new Contour 2 DVR Host with 2 clients attached to it and 1 Contour DVR Host with no clients attached. This is a replacement for my Contour 1 system and ROVI that we had as a second independent DVR for my wife who didn't want to see all of my recordings. I had to upgrade because the Contour 1 Host was recalled and I was having a lot of problems with ti locking up. I wanted to have 2 separate systems in the house, so that one system would have all recorded programs shared and the other Host, no recordings saved or scheduled would appear, other than those for that DVR. Cox Tech said I could almost achieve my goal by adding a filter to the second DVR host that would block in bound signals from the network. He explained that the 2nd dvr host would see only those programs that originated on that unit but would see all scheduled recordings. The other host would see all programs recorded and scheduled no matter where it originated at. i wasn't happy with that solution but it was workable. However, it doesn't work. The 2nd host can see all saved programs from the first and that isn't acceptable. I called Cox tech support to ask to be moved back to Contour 1 and the old ROVI DVR and they say that isn't allowed. Cox use to offer the ability to setup Users in their older DVR system so those recordings would be linked to the user only. Does any one have any solution to this? Two dvr hosts setup to be independent of each other? I also know that you can setup the host dvrs as private but once that is done, then the two clients would not be able to see the recordings from the main host which is what I am trying to achieve.2.8KViews0likes2Comments
