High Data Usage Since Data Cap Announcement
Since the cap was announced my data usage has been exploding, due to no changes in my use habits. When they announced it I got the email saying I should be good to go since I'm not a heavy user. The following billing period, my usage went from 436gb to 859gb, all of my usage seems to have doubled, and this month I am on my way (apparently) to hitting my 1tb cap at 894gb with 4 days left on my cycle. Even last night, I only watched a 1080p netflix show for 4-6 hours (compared to the day before where I spent over 12 hours streaming and gaming) to find that somehow I had used 19gb vs 9gb for the day before! No weird devices on my network, password has been changed. And I am a single person, the only one using the internet... I have been having upload issues for months now and have not had steady upload speeds since i upgraded my service. The package i have is 300/30 and the actual speeds sit around 325-300 download to 5-7 upload speeds on speedofme.com the speeds tested on ookla have been false always showing 300/25 upload when its really not. I've had about 5 techs within 3 months saying its a tap issue and schedule maintenance to fix the problem and give it 24-72 hrs to be fixed. As always my upload speed goes up for a day and goes up to 25-30 and then crashes down to 5-7 until i schedule another tech to get it up to the advertised speeds. We have switched modems,tested on other pc's the results come out also to add i never go over the data cap and tested modem for packet loss came up clean.Im thinking my upload speeds are getting throttled i never get a straight answer from a tech or a rep very frustrating. Cox, you have a monopoly on broadband in my area. I pay for your top package (Ultimate) for over a year and a half and now you want to charge me more for data usage. When I signed up it was 2 TB and now you reduce it to 1 TB. I moved here from Seattle where I had Gigabit for less that included unlimited data. My career is in technology and fully understand how you are exploiting your customers. Data usage has nothing to do with actual costs.
