ContributionsMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Cannot Send Mail I looked at yahoo and didn't like it. I already have a gmail account and the simplest way for me was to let gmail take care of transferring everything. I did use mail forwarding from Cox but it wasn't needed. Gmail takes care of everything. You put in your Cox credentials and it starts transferring everything that was in your Cox inbox. No need for some ripoff $99 program that I saw while Googleling for instructions. Free and easy. I also decided to change my email address with all the websites I normally use. I get so much junk/spam/phishing in my Cox email that maybe this will free me from a lot of it. It wasn't that hard. Just log in, go to your profile and edit your email address. Most of them will send a text code to verify, and then you're done. All my important websites are in my bookmarks, so I just went down the list, some 2 dozen businesses, banks, credit cards, etc. If you want to simply transfer your Cox emails to gmail: Start a gmail account with Google. Open your gmail and click the Icon Wheel (settings). then click "See all Settings." Look for "Accounts and Imports" then for "Import mail and contacts." Enter your Cox login info and BOOM, sit back and let it do the rest. Takes about a day for some 700 emails. You might want to also get the Gmail app for phone, iPad, MacBook, etc, whatever you're using. Or just go to Google. Is my data usage on my bill, 'cause I'm not seeing it? The data usage section doesn't seem to work so I thought I'd just look at my bill, but I don't see it.Everyone else tells you your cell phone data usage, water usage, power usage, gas usage, etc. I dropped Directv for a Firestick, (best invention ever), so I need to know how much streaming data I'm now using, especially when I'm thinking of buying a 4K TV. Cox just can't help themselves trying to sneak extra money from us, can they? They kept raising my speed and monthly bill without asking. So I downgraded to the lowest possible tier for $39.85/mo, but then they sent me a $200 modem that I don't need/want, and I caught UPS at the door and had them return it as refused. My $39.85 price lasted all of 2 months. Now they raised it up again (without asking me) to some $45/mo and there's all kinds of confusing charges resulting in a new bill of $84.85 for October. Of course they waited until Sat to email this new bill, when they are closed until Monday. Did they think I wasn't going to notice because I'm on Easy Pay? Cox, really, WTH? Re: DHCPv6-PD Mine is 64. Btw, to test if you're connected through IPv6 use this: https://test-ipv6.com/ Re: New service Yeah, that doesn't seem right, charging to install a line to the house. Appeal to them directly instead of on this forum. Re: where can I control the mtu for cox router You can simply use Command to see if you are experiencing packet loss. You ping something like Google and it will tell you how many sent/received, how many were lost. Run Command Prompt as administrator. copy/paste "ping google.com -n 25" This will give you your ping stats. Mine shows no loss at MTU of 1510. My default was 1500. Re: where can I control the mtu for cox router You might be onto something. My MTU is 1500 and I bumped it up through Win10 command prompt to 1510. My plan is 25Mbps and speedofme says it's 32Mbps. Run Command app as admin. copy/paste "netsh interface ipv4 show subinterfaces" without parenthesis. It will show your current MTU and your subinterface name, probably "Ethernet." Then copy/paste "netsh int ipv4 set subinterface “Ethernet” mtu=1510 store=persistent" (or whatever mtu value you want to try.) I tried using 1600 and got "not recognized." Just realize that if you go too high, your packets will be broken up during their travel through various servers across the country. 1500 seems to be the 'safe' standard, at least for now. Re: Roku/Firestick, For $39.99 you can't beat a Firestick. The only thing you'll regret is not having bought one sooner. Plug and Play. If you don't have WiFi then you'll need the ethernet adapter. No contracts, pick and choose whatever premium subscription you want, cancel anytime, plus almost everything has a free trial. Showtime's is 30 days. You can hop from one free trial to another as each one ends, which will keep you busy for months.I gave up Directv after 1 week of using my Firestick. Why pay for all those lame channels you never watch anyway, (mtv, bet, animal planet, nickelodeon, byu, qvc, hsn, bloomberg, cspan, link, cooking, cartoon, nasa, ion, galavision, etc.) If you want local channels, get an antenna (yes, they ALL broadcast in HD.) Every news/weather channel is free online or with an app. If you've bought an Apple iphone/ipad/macbook recently you've already got 1 year of +AppleTV for free. Check out, "For All Mankind" series. I can't wait for the next season to start. If you have Amazon Prime, their Prime video is included and they run specials every now and then, such as Starz for 99¢ per month for 2 months. Just don't get Showtime through them but directly from Showtime, for the 30 day free trail. If you go through Amazon it's only a week or so. Re: Brand new modem I would check with Netgear's support website for help. Also, are there any reviews on that modem, anyone else who had problems? As for connection issues, I just started having them within the last hour. I'm taking an online training course and the videos keep stopping at random, so I came here to see if anyone else is having trouble. It was working just fine all day yesterday and last night. I've always used my own modem and router; never rented any equipment from Cox in the decades I've been with them. As long as it's on the approved list it's supposed to work. Re: 3X miscounting of data - unwillingness of customer care to look at this issue in CMTS or modem You can gather evidence by taking a screenshot of your data usage meter every day. You could then show them how much you're using daily/weekly to refute the charges. You'd have to use 42 GB per DAY for 30 days to reach your limit of 1280 GB. Click on "Past daily" and it will show how much you used each day for the last 30 days. And if your daily usage seems way too high, maybe a neighbor is stealing your wifi bandwidth. Can you log on to your router to see everything that's connected, and account for every device? I've been binge-watching 8 seasons of Homeland with my 30 day free trial of Showtime on my Firestick and my data usage is not all that high. 700 GB is my all time high record of usage. Normally it's less than 600 GB per month. My daily usage is less than 20 GB per day.
