Stating the forums is for technical support only, yet its acceptable to bridge misses on their part with a link to the NCTA website.Same tactics used by the Soviet Unions public relation office or otherwise known as thePolitburo. Deny publicly any wrong doing or mistakes and rush behind the scenes to patch the issue why censoringthe public voice that contradicts the peoples official stance on the issue. Unfortunatelythis tactic was also one of the primary factors for the fall of the Soviet Union. History could be applied in the scenario and Cox could be the first Cable company to actually admit they made mistakes. At the same time they can admit they are doing a ton of work to rectify it. The problem is they already told the FCC they can handle the surge in traffic from COVID-19, likelycant revert on that statement now without long term impacts or opening the discussion for increase federal regulation of broad band providers. What is the NCTA that COX tech Support is Posting then Closing Threads You might of seen this link or similar link posted in your packet loss threads that are now locked:https://www.ncta.com/topics The NCTA is one of the largest lobbyist groups for corporations like Cox, ATT&T, etc to push pro legislation in favor of those companies and often against consumer protection such as net neutrality which NCTA spent 14 million dollars to fight and let die. Net neutrality prevented companies like Cox from throttling internet to certain sites, charging more for certain content you accesses on their network, and provided a wide array of consumer protection. They are also the organization that lobbied for prevention of legislation that would prevent service providers like cox from raising your bill every six months without warning or explanation. This is not intended to answer anyone's bandwidth issues or overloaded nodes, its simply an informational post so when you see cox moderators close a thread with a link to the NCTA, its not a government organization or consumer protection organization. Its the lobbying arm for broad band providers in Washington DC to pass pro corporation support legislation in the best interest of broad band provider companies. You can determine for yourself if you think what they support is for the consumer or for the corporations. Just google NCTA to find more information on what they actually supported and did not support in congress and the senate over the years. Re: Update for South Scottsdale, Arizona 64th and Thomas Node + Others for Refunds Well we hit the bursting point here, cable modem cant keep a lock on signal channels down stream or up stream anymore. Connects for about 10 seconds with high levels of errors then drops and repeats. Did run into a field crew at the box though, so they said they are trying to figure out how to split the node. Apparently its the worst in valley area, at 95% utilization which it was at 80% last week. Must of sold a few more gigablast packages onto the node in the last week and sent that bad boy to its untimely death. Re: AT&T vs Cox, like night and day Make the switch man, thats a no brainier. Wish I had that option. Re: Update for South Scottsdale, Arizona 64th and Thomas Node + Others for Refunds Yah its getting worse every day. I would predict at this rate that the internet will not be usable by the end of this week. Current levels attached which where 6% at the start of the week from 8 am to 10 PM, now its only 9:30 am and at 30%. Cant work from home, have to talk with my org VP today about what I can and cant do for work which will likely result in something negative. Re: Re creating Mega Thread as Cox Attempts To suppress the Issue I understand your point Bruce and I have stated this to Cox and I believe a few times in this forum. Had this been a pandemic caused situation, I would support Cox 100% in what they are doing to keep people connected. What I mean by that is if the internet became unusable all the sudden when shelter in place orders where given, I would have no issues. However, I escalated the node saturation issue to Cox 2 1/2 years ago for my neighborhood and they told me "We are not prioritizing it because we are laying fiber in the city to sell new packages". Then they went on to sell new subscribers and upgrade people to gigablast on my same node that already could not handle the traffic. To this very second they are selling gigablast to new customers and allowing customers to upgrade to gigblast on my node.... They 100% are aware it cant handle anymore volume as it cant handle the volume currently, yet they continue to sell. That goes against everything leadership principal the military taught me but maybe you had a different experience. Re: Re creating Mega Thread as Cox Attempts To suppress the Issue I served 10 years in the Army, 5 as an 11 Bravo and another 5 as a special forces civil affairs team leader. We can talk sucking it up all day long. Even hinting Cox is anything like a military veteran or in the same situation us military vets faced is the biggest insult I have ever read in my entire life...... Re: Update for South Scottsdale, Arizona 64th and Thomas Node + Others for Refunds bumping Re creating Mega Thread as Cox Attempts To suppress the Issue Collecting the threads where people are saying they have ping and packet loss issues. Unlikely that this wide spread problem is caused by a "router", "signal issue" or "bent cables" (unless somehow everyone's cables got bent over night across the country? Santa Claus?) These problems are ranging from California to New Orleans, Arizona and Nevada between. I know these are unusual times but also sending technicians to check cables or trying to blame modems, house cabling for the issues doesn't help. What can you do: Install PingPlotter (14day trial) and start collecting data. 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8 are Google's anycast DNS servers that should be optimized for latency. You could also try to ping cox.net, zoom.us, google.com or try to find your game server addresses. Try to collect several days of data to see how the service degrades in certain peak times Post the results here and emailcox.help@cox.com with the data and your issues/location etc.See if you get an answer or anything helpful to address. In some cases they want to send technician over but if you already had technician check your signals or cables, it's likely not going to help If the problem persist, consider filing informal FCC complaint asAZchipsdidon his case Cox, what can you do: Escalate these issues to your manager/director customer support who can then escalate it further, hopefully up to the CEO/whoever is the director of Cox Communication. Acknowledge that the issues exists and communicate to customers what is happening, what you plan to do and when. Email customers affected or post in this forums or on twitter. Launch your own investigation to the network look for bottlenecks, speed up your upgrade plans if you can. Even after this crisis, we are likely to see increase in businesses and consumers internet usage. Focus improving the latency in the overall network. This is what most people are complaining about it. Since affects how fast new connections open, dns requests get resolved, and providing good experience for applications that require stable and constant connectivity (video calls, ssh, gaming). Threads (most of these are from the last couple of weeks): I'm getting really tired of this. Smokey if that is literally your complaint your line is fine. People on this forum are in far worse shape. I cant even work from home anymore, the packet loss is at 50%. Consider your self lucky that Cox has even provided you that scrap of decent quality because most here have not seen that.
