Like I said, it's worth way less than the new modem, so I'm not going to worry about. I appreciate all the help/advice. Re: Service keeps getting worse Hmmm...guess I did, then. It was only one, so I'm still up a little 🙂 Not sure why HomeLife is being listed, been gone since I downgraded (no charges, either). Re: Service keeps getting worse I'm willing to be that it will be officially added to my account. But, you never know. When I downgraded my services back in April, I got rid of HomeLife, so naturally I returned the HomeLife hub and cameras...and none of it was on my account. Re: Service keeps getting worse No. Basically a charge will show up for the modem on my next bill, with the credit already posting. Cox has been bending over backwards on this; also got another credit due to the poor service. Here's the adjustment for the modem (price not included): Statement: Internet, TV, Homelife, Voice Adjustment Description: Equipment Purchase Credit Re: Service keeps getting worse Actually, I do. I received a full credit today for the modem, just like the tech said I would. Re: Service keeps getting worse It was free, so that's not an issue. Re: Service keeps getting worse According to the Cox tech, the CM82000A is a purchase-only modem, so no rental fees involved. If I can find a super-simple mobile phone that works with Cox Mobile, I'll dump Cox Voice. Re: Service keeps getting worse The tech told me that they were having issues with the TM3402. If I get my mom used to using a cell phone (83 and not tech-savvy at all), then I'll dump Voice and switch to Mobile. Also, we haven't paid a modem rental fee since I downgraded all of our services, going back 4 months. And we still had the Panoramic WiFi modem at the time. UPDATE: no new charges for the modem Re: Service keeps getting worse I was told that the modem itself was free, not sure about any rental charges. Re: Service keeps getting worse OK, the techs left a few minutes ago. They found a huge degradation in service from the street box to the house, not sure how the previous tech missed it. They were actually surprised that my services were on at all. They also added a standalone internet-only modem (Arris CM8200A), leaving the TM3402 for Voice only. The main catch was some ancient hardware in the street box. That is scheduled to be replaced this week, so keeping my fingers crossed.
