How to read a remote code ? Anyone know how to get read a remote code by putting the remotes end to end and then using the cox remote to acquire the code from the first remote? The old cox remotes used to do this. Do the new ones ?
A moderator would need to confirm, but what you're describing ("reading") would be a Learning remote. I don't believe Cox remotes are Learning remotes.
What remote control did you have before? See link below for a list with pictures.

A Learning Remote can copy and save an IR frequency of another make, model, brand of remote.
For example, if Contour had a Learning Remote...1. Put Contour remote into "learning" mode2. Hold Contour remote and Onkyo remote sensor-to-sensor (transmit-to-receive)3. Press button on Onkyo remote (Mute) to send a frequency4. Confirm Contour remote received frequency (lights blink, flash, steady, etc)5. Press button on Contour remote to save frequency6. Contour remote now mutes Onkyo
I think OP has Cox remote confused with 3rd party remote. Something like a Logitech. AFAIK Cox never had a learning remote.
