Recent notice in bill indicated Preferred had been increased to 150 Mbps down and that modem reset was all that was needed.
Many power down resets later and still only getting low 90’s Mbps down and low 9’s up same as previous. Called tech support and chances made to account and reset from they’re end, was told it should work later after system update was complete. Day later and several modem reboots later still same low 90’s Mbps. All tests have been on wired connection to PC, not a WIFI connection.
Wondering if there’s something I’m missing on my end?
Componets:
Arris Surfboard SB6141 modem. (literature indicates 343 Mbps max)
Netgear61 mod. WNDR3400v3 router (rated 300 Mbps)
Ethernet cat.5e wires
Modem signal - signal to noise 37-38 dB all 8 down channels
Things tried:
(Eliminated router) Straight wired connection from modem to PC reboot of both, no change.
Redid all connections and modem reboot, no change.
Anybody have idea what might be wrong or am I just one of unlucky ones that doesn’t get the increase?
You didn't mention your computer. You might check to verify it it has a 1 Gbps Network Interface Card.

That router has a 100Mbps WAN port, which is going to limit your speed. I know you said you bypassed it, but FYI.

Can you post your complete signals? The SNR levels are most important.
Computer is older (2009) Compaq model SR5710F
Interesting the Network Adapter is: NVIDIA nforce 10/100 Mbps Ethernet
Does that mean 100 Mbps is max? If so is upgrade a hardware or software change?
Your maximum download speed will be something just under 100 Mbps due to network overhead. The speeds you posted are normal for a 100 Mpbs NIC. To obtain the increased speed Cox is pushing to your modem would require a hardware upgrade to replace the 100 Mbps NIC with a 1 Gbps. But, since that's an out of pocket expense, you might want to just live with your existing speed until you're ready to upgrade to a new computer.
