Why can't I log into HBO Max or ESPN on my iPad

I am getting the error shown below on my iPad which is "Sign In Error. We are experiencing technical difficulties.  Please try again later" It never works, no matter how long I wait or how many tim...

When you set up your account on the app, you need to select Cox as your provider.

You STILL have to use @cox.net as part of the username. Until you are logged in, HBO doesn't know who your provider is.

    Did you see OP's image?  It has a specific "Cox" screen to log in.

    You select Cox as your provider before logging in with your Cox credentials.  This informs the HBO Max app of your provider.

      Doesn't work that way, you STILL have to use @cox.net, don't ask ME why, ask HBO.

        I won't ask why but will ask where.  On where is HBO making this requirement?
