Stations showing "we are experiencing a problem on our end" notification. Restored by sending a signal.

Had at least two channels displaying "we are experiencing problems on our end. Check back in a few minutes". This went on for over 5 hours. Finally decided to send a signal thru the boxes and the station returned immediately. Why would the on screen notification still remain when it might have been a box problem - and could have been cleared much earlier? Thanks!

    I've been getting this problem every morning on my bedroom TV. The living room tv hooked up to the box has no problems but the extra tv keeps getting that message? Is there a problem with the extender boxes????
