tomb993....I've noticed my Remote having slower response times on both of my Contour2 DVR's...But also strange, is the issue goes away, say the next day. I do also see the green lite on the box appearing almost instantly, but the screen....really noticeable when using the Guide, becomes slow. For the guide,, the signal must go back to COX and back to me. I would suspect that for live broadcast and streaming, that would also be the case...back to COX first. I do not see any slowness when watching TV, just when I occasionally use the remote to view the channels and buttons.
Now for stored files, you should only be talking to your DVR's hard drive and the response should be fairly quick. if FF of something recorded is slow, it could just be the DVR, remote or battery. I would not think that FF of something on your box requires a message back to COX, unless you're flipping guides or waiting for the icon images to display.
Now, if your home internet is also experiencing long delays, like when you watchtv on your computer, then COX could be the culprit.. Tough call and obviously, you still are having really slow TV response.
You mention the Pause button...I thought the live TV segments are actually stored on the DVR and when you Pause, skip, jump or fast back, that you are actually doing it to your own disk..which must be fairly fast, unless DVR is nogood. .if this info is actually being captured back a COX, that would be surprising. I'm also thinking that Pausing while watching a live show, just pauses the actual watch, the recording should still continue while in pause, till you stop the recording.
