I haven't had Cox for a while. As soon as it stopped being free, I switched to a fiber ISP. However, even when I had it, I only probably needed to call support a few times. As long as you are data only, have your own equipment, and the wiring in your house and area is decent, you shouldn't need support that much. I had Verizon FIOS for a while which has terrible support (almost entirely outsourced) but since it was fiber, I don't think I had to contact them once in 5 years, so it really didn't matter. I think it's a mixture of Cox spending less money on their HFC/copper network upkeep and more on fiber Devlopment and a brain drain of the company because Cox learned they could outsource many of those jobs to increase profit margins. However, I don't know of ANY ISP that has good support. Like the entire industry runs mostly out of India, where labor is very cheap, and they don't have the same laws and taxes as the US. The addition of AI is only making it worse, because AI is even cheaper than the ~3$/hr they pay their people in India and South America. I predict a day when all of Cox support will be run by AI in some type with only minimal human oversight, including the moderators here.
