Recording Mid-show

Prior to getting Contour, old Cox used to be able to start recording a show mid-show and it would record the entire show.  Now it only records from the point of starting the recording.  Is this the way it’s supposed to work.  If so, it’s a bad practice.

    My Contour 1 still has that feature.  As long as I was tuned to that channel when I hit the Record button.
