HDMI Cable
Recently purchased a Sony OLED 4g TV. I have a Contour box ... should I use the Cable that came with the Contour box or get a high speed 4g HDMI cable?

As long as the cable that came with with works, you shouldn't see any difference.

You have a new 4k TV. Make sure you are using HDMI 2.1 cables (new 2019 standard), and not HDMI 1.4 cables (old 2009 standard). A 1.4 HDMI will not give you reliable 4k video because it transfers video much slower than a newer 2.1 version of HDMI. If you are not sure which cable you have, just buy a new 2.1 and enjoy! I understand why people may thing there's no difference because they look exactly the same, But there is a HUGE different is you have an older cable, which most were if you go back 2 years.
Your reply is not totally accurate. The HDMI 1.4 cable transfers 4k at 30fps so it will work. the newer hdmi spec'd cable will provide for up to 8k resolution, but the contour boxes, unless you are using one you got 5 years ago, are coming with the latest spec hdmi cable. I still have one from a contour box I upgraded to in 2020 when i was still working for Cox, and the one I received had a 2.1 version hdmi cable with it.
best answer, if you got your contour box within the last few years, you have the right cable and don't need to go buy one.

I am not sure when I got the Contour box and I have cox cables that I have received over the years (been a Cox customer for about 20 years) and since all the cables look the same, I have no idea which is the newest one. I went ahead and purchased a Monoprice 2.1 cable... not expensive at all so that is what I am using now. The colors on this TV are absolutely amazing ... I just hope it lasts as well, and as long, as my Plasma TV which also had magnificent colors. Again, I want to thank you all for taking the time to help me out; it is very much appreciated!

If you're using a 4K Contour box, you'd be able to stream 4K content in select apps, or purchase 4K content in OnDemand. In addition to On Demand, Cox offers select channels to view special events or programming in 4k. The following channels provide 4K content on a limited basis and are searchable by a voice remote or on-screen guide.- Channel 4001 - This channel provides Cox 4K promotional content.
- Channel 4002 provides sporting and special events in 4K when available.
Note: A pop-up warns that the content is 4K and that a 4K TV is required to view it. Attempting to view these channels without a 4K TV may result in an error, and the TV may display a black screen.
Cox is committed to providing the best quality content to our customers, and we have the infrastructure to support 4k. It's important to note that very few broadcasters actually transmit in 4K for TV. Most programming is going to be 1080i. Technically speaking, HDMI 1.4 was developed to support 4k.
Quite honestly, I have the Contour DVR and I have no idea whatsoever if it is a 4k box or not.
