Forum Discussion
Hello, I apologize that you are experiencing this with your DVR. This has happened to me when I start watching a program after it starts and while it is being recorded. If you are experiencing this under other circumstances I'd like to help. When you have a moment, can you please email cox.help@cox.com with name, address, and link to forum thread. The purpose of the Cox Cable Forum is to allow customers to discuss technical topics related to residential Cox services with other customers. If you need help with billing or other account specific issues, please reach us on Twitter at @CoxHelp, visit us on Facebook, or at cox.help@cox.com.
So RaquelD, what solution did you end up offering for this problem? It is apparently universal. The only solution I have found is to quickly hit the last button, select the program I was watching and hope that did it rapidly enough to overcome the restart from the beginning of the recording. But we should not have to deal with this at all.

I am not comfortable posting such information on a public forum. My concern is this: I regularly record sports events on my Contour DVR. Inevitably (and several times during each playback) when I am fast forwarding the cursor will leap back to the very beginning of the recorder. I have learned to quickly hit the last button and select the recording to catch my last place. However, this does not always work. And we should not have to deal with such a problem in the first place. I note that there have been a number of posts about this issue.

Hi Narraview, I can imagine how frustrating it is to try to find your place in a recording when the DVR fast forwards too far and syncs with live TV or when the DVR rewinds all the way to the beginning of the recording. We don't want you to post any personal information in this public forum, but we would like you to email us at Cox.Help@cox.com so we can further investigate what's happening. We have remote troubleshooting tools that allow us to take a look at the DVR's telemetry and other diagnostic tools. I apologize for any confusion! I value your business and I want you to enjoy your Cox DVR service.
