Thanks, I don't use Facebook or Twitter (temporarily X). But I'll keep it in mind. I expect the knowledgeable users here to provide useful information.
You may need a box with that TV. In order to use the TV itself, you need to be able to use the "Cast" feature of the Contour app on your Android phone to stream to the TV. However your TV doesn't have the chromecast feature. See specs here. You can't download the app onto the TV itself. Your TV DOES have Airplay, but Cox doesn't allow Airplay use with it's app, even if you had a Iphone. So you either need a seperate Chromecast/Google TV device or to use one of the boxes. The wireless box is pretty much a Cox version of Google TV.
Sorry, perhaps I wasn't clear. I'm not interested in streaming from my phone to the TV. I just want to get internet streaming (and cable channels) from Cox to the TV, wirelessly. The TV hasn't been delivered yet. I'm just trying to prepare for it. Hence my question, do I need either of these two boxes Cox sent me, in order to get the Cox services, wirelessly? At this point, streaming from the phone is not a complication I want to introduce.
Once it is delivered, if there's anything else I want it to do, I'll probably buy an Apple TV. I use an older one with my current dumb TV (a Panasonic plasma) so I'm familiar with how it works. I can easily do internet streaming with many services directly from wifi to the TV. I haven't tried streaming from my iPhone 15 Pro to the Apple TV, because I haven't felt the need to. Best regards and thanks for reading!

How exactly would you help? They have the boxes they just don't want to use them. Stop trying to force everyone to email you when the question can be easily answered, by either you or other users. All you new moderators do it. I wonder if you are even in-house.

If you want to use the Contour app you need something that is compatible with it. That's either a phone, a Cox box(wired or wireless) or a Apple TV(4K).The app isn't compatible with TV software itself. I think this is by design so more people will rent boxes from Cox however the choice is with Comcast, who Cox rents the software from. Kind of surprised they invested in the AppleTV app.
