Cox and Future Cable Card Support for TiVo

Hi. I have the new tuning adapters and TiVo is working fine. What I’d like to know is are there are any changes coming relatively soon that will disable cable cards altogether and render TiVo useless? I’ve read some cable companies are converting to a streaming-based service with cloud-based DVRs and I’m wondering if Cox is planning to do the same?

  • HI DoubleDAZ. We already have the cloud-based DVR service in place. At this time, we are not aware of any changes that will render the TiVo useless. Keep checking the News from Cox section of your bill for upcoming changes to our services.  Thanks, Lisa, Cox Support Forums Moderator

Well this is interesting, Cox disabled my Cable Card and TV Tuner in my Tivo. No Tivo for me, so if Lisa is saying no Cox didn't disable Tivo's why is mine.

Hello morbid, I'm truly sorry to hear you are seeing your Cable Card service has been disabled. We want you to remain connected. Cox has been alerting customers to swap out their legacy tuning adapter for the Vecima Tuning Adapter. If the equipment hasn't been swapped, then this may have caused an issue impacting the cable card service. If equipment wasn't swapped and you are looking to have this done, then you may reach our Digital & Specialty Contact Center by calling 1-844-251-2673 M-F 8am-11pm (ET), Sat 9am-9pm (ET), Sun 12pm-6pm (ET) where arrangements can be made to have a Vecima Tuning Adapter mailed or possibly schedule a technician visit.
