Automatic recording time extension

How to stop "recording time will automatically extend if this program runs long" for sporting events.  This  feature will not allow consecutive events to be recorded.                                                                                ie:  Live golf on the Golf Channel 11:00-1:00.  Live golf on CBS 1:00-4:00.   Live golf on the Golf Channel  1:00-4:00 cannot be recorded because "If you record golf at1:00, the following programs will not record"

Auto pad recordings is turned OFF

Any ideas?

    Thank you for choosing Cox. I'm sorry you are experiencing issues with your recordings.  When you go to set the recording, under the setting, does it ask you for any preferences ?
