Specific site being blocked

The site being blocked is ubuntuforums.org.This started happening last Wednesday(11/20) and when trying to access the site it just times out.I can access it using data on my phone and I can access it with several different PCs using internet at other locations(cox). When looking at notifications in Advanced Security in the app there is nothing there to indicate that this specific site is a threat and is blocked. I've disabled Advanced Security and the issue persists.According to admin at the site my IP address is not being blocked by them so this only leaves Cox as the culprit here.

Edit:disabled firewall on both Ubuntu and Windows PC and the site still is not accessible.

It's mission critical for me to have access to these forums so if anyone in the community here or someone from Cox can shed some light on this issue it would be much appreciated.

  • Since using a vpn has allowed access to the site I'm going mark this as solved for now.

Can you ping the site? If not, try using Pingplotter to trace to the site, to see where it is failing. See here for my pingplotter results for comparison. Site works for me on Frontier fiber east coast.

Are you using Cox DNS? If so, try changing to a alternate DNS on your PC like Google DNS or OpenDNS. I notice some issues with that domain on Speakeasy system. Also saw some problems when I looked at how DNS is set up on the domain in general. Not sure if that is relevant.

If worst comes to worst, use a browser with a built in free VPN like Opera GX.

Being on a Linux machine I use Proton for a vpn.I have access to the site but it's not ideal as far as speed goes.I still would like to know what the issue is.

      Results of ping:

      Destination Host Unreachable
