spamreport@cox.net completly USELESS

It's funny that I have forwarded as attachments spam from trusted meds, online rx shop, viagra&clalis ect. to spamreport and get new ones almost daily from these same people.Every time I get a new one I forward all of them from that source (over 40 from online rx) to spamreport@cox.net) as attachments. this has been going on for over a month and the incoming server still can't tell this is spam (shame on you) because I have emailed trusted meds about the spam and they have asked me to forward any of these emails to them as attachments so they can investigate who is doing this......BUT and WOW the SMTP server says NO WAY this might be spam.

NOW come on the outgoing server is smarter than the incoming server what the HE%% is wrong with this picture.

I'll bet by the end of 2018 I will have forwarded to cox over 7000 emails from Trusted meds alone, If i keep getting just 1 a day (as i will forward the whole bunch to them)

I wonder if I should forward them to one of the corporate email addresses I have, that might make somones hair stand on end.

  • try setting up some filters. i think that's how i got "trusted meds" to go to spam.  "rxonline" too. do not try to filter address (they change daily), filter subject or sender. but it just feels to me like a lot of this spam is coming from an internal source.  i see a lot of my phishing schemes are cox.net addresses.  and yes i know you can spoof, but these guys are "spoofing" university addresses.  they are actually cox.net addresses.

I have them automatic go to the spam folder, but thats not the point of my comments.

cox seems to identify them if you try to forward them to anyone else, but can't tell they are junk coming in.

I have been programming computers since the 1960's and I think the staff here need replacing.

I shouldn't have to filter hundreds of the emails from the same source. So why report them if nothing is done about blocking them.

At last count I have 600 spam emails since june 1'st this year.

I do filter them to the spam folder in my thunderbird email program but the point is after about 60 from the same outfit I should not have them still coming in daily.

guess where all the alerts for postings after mine on this thread were today...come on, just guess!

that's right! all my replies from the cox forums were in my cox spam mailbox.

      isn't that hysterical?

  • I've managed to create a filter rule for Trusted Meds.  The one that is totally useless are the incessant emails for Cannabis Oil.  I've created rules that send any mail containing the phrase in the From, Subject, or Body to spam.  It seems to work, but only 80% of the time.  Then they got hip and changed it to CBD Oil, so I blocked that, but a few still come through, so I shortened it to just CBD, so I'm going to see how that works.  What drives me nuts is that there's a limit on the number of addresses that you can block, and I've hit top end, so now I just have to send to Spam.    The limit of the number of email addresses that can be blocked must be removed; these emails are a daily occurrence, much as the incessant robocalls from, the same 2 numbers.

yes.  blocking emails is to no avail.  i am no hacker, but i think they've got an algorithm for generating email addresses (my son would know for sure!) and i figured out pretty quick that blocking emails was a "wack-a-mole" game!  it's better to make a rule that contains a subject...like "warranty."i am talking about "filter rules."  do you know what i mean? i can explain if you need me to.

Hey JP what email program do you use? I use thunderbird mail (its free) and have never had any limits to the blocking of emails. if your using anything else you might want to try it.

I just updated yesterday to Thunderbird.  I was using the default Windows 10 one, but to create filters, I had to go to the Cox email app to create filter rules.   So far it’s been pretty good.

Cox email needs a complete revamp. Nothing much works regarding filtering and rejecting emails and now I find that I cannot even follow the suggestions for reporting or dealing with spam. < https://www.cox.com/residential/support/reporting-spam-phishing-and-virus-abuse.html >

    I cannot send emails to spamreport@cox.net OR  abuse@cox.net OR thisisnotspam@cox.net OR unblock.requests@cox.net

I cannot report spam emails to spam@uce.gov or any ISP that lists a web page in the Spam

I spent ages with online chat who eventually stated that they will go ahead and transfer me to our advanced technical support department. I gave the Cox Live Chat Support person my phone number and nobody called.

I totally agree with you. WE totally agree with you! But why can't you do these things? Is it telling you why? Cox won't let you send to any one listed in the spam. They let us get it, but we can't forward it because.....well....it's spam! Would be funny if not so frustrating. But to cox and uce, mine always goes. Level one techs know nothing about email. Level 2 tech ha may not either. There's a team that you can't reach unless SOME MODERATOR INVITES YOU TOCONTACT THEM HERE......that deal with this. Although, they took 2 months to contact me and after another month moderating my email, they closed me out and I still ( see post above) have issues.

maybe if we forwarded them to ---

BROADBAND INTERNET AND HOME SECURITY/HOME AUTOMATION SERVICES
        Stacie Schafer
        Senior Manager of Public Relations

and she got hundreds of emails daily, either something would be done about the tech's running emails BUT more likely they would just tell us to stop or they would close our account.

Too bad enough people are not that ticked off about the email service.

forget the lv 1 or 2 tech's they can't even understand the problem ( I know because aI have tried and tried to ask why the let them but block the same email when we try to send it out.)

how exactly have your tried sending them?

A regular forwardd or reply ect. doesn't work.

you have to forward as attachment to have any chance of sending them to spamreport@cox.net ect.

i have not figured out how to "forward as an attachment" so i download them to my email program (i'm still using eudora, the older relative of t-bird) and i know how to get full headers...which is what they want to see...and then forward normally.
