While I don't like Thunderbird for MANY reasons, look for a junk folder, it may be in there.
When was the last time you used Thunderbird? It has had a lot of recent development.

I think they are doing work on the system to get ready for a new webmail change. Incoming and auto forwarding is hit or miss for some. See thread for details.

I haven't used it in years. I actually used Windows Live Mail. Best free email software Microsoft ever produced, outside of outlook express.

Isn't Windows Live Mail EOL as of 2017? Does it still get security updates? I only mention it because a Outlook vulnerability was just found and patched. These exploits are found on almost a monthly basis. That's why I only use web based UI for email. More secure IMO.

Yup, no longer supported. Microsoft would rather you purchase Outlook. Mail software vulnerabilities, are few and far between, especially if they are not left open, and you don't access attachments through the software itself.
