The only way to refresh emails is to wait for the selected interval or manually refresh the page? The circle arrows have disappeared

On the left-side of the page, if you double-tap the folder for the Inbox, this will check for new email.

the circle arrows on the top over to the right, just to the right of the bell icon.

The Refresh icon (circle arrows) is still on the page; however, if user is in some type of mode...I don't know, desktop?...it may not display. I'm not sure. Ain't too hard to find.
However, again, when I click the icon with Edge, it won't rotate to indicate it's checking for new email. I haven't tried with Chrome because I'm too lazy to save my password in Chrome. Double-tapping the Inbox folder works.

Please help me understand why refreshing the page is a problem. Can't you just hit F5 on your keyboard? Is the problem that webmail takes too long to refresh?

Try pressing the F5 key.

That would be a workaround if she doesn't have a mouse. Otherwise, it's a bit of an overkill since F5 refreshes the entire page. it takes longer to reload the page and fire the Refresh event than it does to manually click Refresh. If a mouse is available, but she doesn't like repeatedly clicking the Refresh button, she can click it once and then press the space bar to Refresh.

They could also try this plugin.

Webmail isn't automatically displayed in your Inbox when it's received. Inbox must be refreshed either by a timed Refresh Interval, that you specify, or by manually clicking the Refresh button. That's just the way Webmail is designed.
Webmail is not my primary email account. I have it configured with a 5-minute Refresh Interval and auto forward set to forward email to my primary account with a copy retained in Webmail. The primary account has a filter rule that routes email received from my Webmail account to a "Cox" folder. For testing, I arranged primary and Webmail in side-by-side windows. I then sent an email from primary to Webmail and waited. The email appeared in primary's "Cox" folder 4-5 minutes before it appeared in Webmail's Inbox.
Webmail could be designed to run the Refresh process from the same event used to Auto Forward email. Whether Auto Forward is active or not, the event that runs the Auto Forward process could also be used to run the Inbox Refresh process. That would display incoming email in Inbox quicker and replace the need for a Refresh Interval. Manual Refresh could be retained as a contingency plan, but it shouldn't be needed.
