New Firmware Update

The new firmware update for the Arris TG1682G Panoramic Wifi Modem is a steaming pile. Not only did the update delete the user settings in the modem but also removed other features entirely. Thanks for the great "update" Cox. Thank you oh so much for the long night of reprogramming the modem with the necessary settings, and thank you for removing the ability to block domains from the modem. That is extra helpful.

This is a issue for me as well, i have the same modem.  Now i cant connect to Steam.  I really DO NOT want to reprogram something that wasnt broke.

I apologize that the firmware update caught you off guard. The firmware update will allow our customers to utilize the Cox Panoramic WiFi App and other Smart WiFi accessories. The update may have changed some of the Gateway's advanced settings, so if you had customized settings like port forwarding or port triggering, you may want to verify that those settings are still enabled. -Becky, Cox Support Forums Moderator

In true Cox fashion the point has been entirely missed. The update didn't just wipe out user setting. It completely changed the UI, shuffled away port forwarding and port triggering, as well as completely removed the ability to block a domain. All in the name of a panoramic wifi app that most people will not use. Especially those that only use you for internet service.
