NETGEAR CM 1200 Cox Gigablast Speed Problems

I set-up a NETGEAR CM 1200 after having the Wifi Panoramic.  Decided didnt want to continue renting from Cox.   I'm using an Orbi RB20 Router.

It's strange when I run a wireless speed test on MacBook  I'm getting download speeds all over the place from 20mb to 350mb.  Upload have been constant between 25mb & 40mb.   When I run speed test on the Orbi using the Orbi App on iPhone I get download speeds around 550mb and upload speeds around 40mb consistently.  On same iPhone using the Okia Speed Test app speed test is around 250mb to 300mb with upload speeds around 35mb.

My speeds on MacBook Pro drop as low as 20mb sometimes and have been ranging between 20mb and 350mb.   I contacted Netgear and they said problem appeared to be the Upstream Bonded Channels 1-4 are locked but 5-8 are unlocked.  All of the downstream bonded channels are locked.

Cox Reps (I spoke w/2 on 1/3/20) says they don't provision 3rd party modems.  Netgear saying they cant lock channels 5-8 which is what they say problem is.

Do I need to just return this modem and go with Arris CM8220?   That is what Cox representative suggested.

Also, I'm trying to upload screen shot from Netgear Genie but seems I can only insert URL or from the Community.   Sorry I'm a Noob and probably doing this all wrong.. All help is appreciated.

Does  the Orbi app perform a speed test from the iPhone or does it perform a speed test from the router?

If your Negear is working, it's already provisioned.  Your modem is on the list of Cox certified modems.  Upstream is fine, right?  You only need 4 for 35 Mbps.

I was using Orbi iPhone App to perform the test.   Upstream is fine..

I did a factory reset on Modem and was back to around 300-350mb on the Cox Test on their website.  Then it dropped to around 220mb after about an hour

If you do a speed test, you need to bypass your router.  Disconnect the router and directly wire a device.to the modem.

If you test through your router, you're measuring your network...not your Cox connection.  If you test through your router, your wireless device is competing for bandwidth with every device connected to your router.

    Post those numbers.

So I purchased a Anker Ethernet to C Cable so I could connect my MacBook directly to Modem.  At first I couldn't get ethernet to C cable to work, kept saying self assigned IP, but after disconnecting and restarting Modem with cable plugged in I got a connection.   Connection speed using Cox Speed Test was around 800mb and I got similar results from speediest.com   So, I'm thinking the problem is possibly the router, an Orbi RB20.

Any recommendations on how to improve my wifi are appreciated, I'm getting around 300mb through out the house, around 2500sq ft.
